NewsMax: “Sharyl Attkisson: Why Did Hillary Survive a Brian Williams-like Tale?”

“Emmy Award-winning journalist Sharyl Attkisson, who covered the story of Hillary Clinton’s lie about being shot at in Bosnia, says she can’t understand how the former secretary of state weathered the scandal while NBC News anchor Brian Williams may not. “‘To me, part of the irony is if Brian Williams isn’t able to survive it — that we think it’s important enough when somebody gives this kind of story that he would lose his career — yet we didn’t care enough to have it matter that much with someone who became our secretary of state,’ Attkisson said Monday on ‘The Steve Malzberg Show’ on Newsmax TV. “‘[A person] we relied on for honest answers and truths in the aftermath of Benghazi and so on.’. . .”

CBS-DC: “Scott Walker Is First Potential 2016 Candidate to Open Iowa Office”

“. . . Walker, who has led all other GOP presidential aspirants in recent polls, leased the space at 2775 86th St. in Urbandale, the Des Moines Register reports. The office building has a lengthy political history with Republican candidates – although Walker hasn’t officially tossed his hat in the ring for the 2016 election.

“Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses are tentatively expected to be held on Feb. 1, 2016 and are crucially important for presidential campaigns looking to establish a national presence.

“The strip-mall location leased out by Walker is the first space to be established in Iowa by any potential candidate and has links to past GOP campaigns including Michelle Bachmann’s 2012 team, Mitt Romney’s general election crew and John McCain, Sarah Palin’s Midwest regional campaign headquarters in 2008, according to the Register. . .”

Jim Geraghty, NRO: “Jindal’s Steep Path Ahead “The governor says GOP primary voters don’t want donors to clear the field.

“. . . A Fox News poll conducted in late January asked Republicans nationwide whom they preferred as the 2016 Republican nominee. Jindal received 2 percent. When Mitt Romney — who has since declared he won’t be running — was removed from the mix, the Louisiana governor received . . . 3 percent.

“The most recent Des Moines Register/Bloomberg poll of likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers found Jindal at . . . 2 percent.

“The most recent Bloomberg poll of likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire found Jindal at . . . 3 percent.

“There are some brighter numbers in that mix. In Iowa, 39 percent of Iowa Republican caucus-goers have a favorable impression of him, and only 20 percent say their impression is unfavorable. In New Hampshire, the numbers are similar, 41 percent of likely primary voters saying they have a favorable impression of him and only 12 percent unfavorable.

“But Jindal starts the 2016 cycle at or near the bottom of the pack, which is mildly surprising considering his increasingly prominent role in the Republican party during the Obama era. . .”

Giuseppe Macri, Daily Caller: “Republican FCC Commissioner Slams ‘Obama’s 332-Page Plan to Regulate the Internet’”

Republican FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai on Friday raised the first of many criticisms to come about FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s aggressive net neutrality plan distributed to commissioners Thursday, which Pai described as “President Obama’s 332-page plan to regulate the Internet.”

In a statement released Friday, Pai lamented the fact that the 332-page plan, which he tweeted a picture of himself holding next to a picture of Obama, won’t be released to the public until after the commission votes on its implementation later this month. (RELATED: FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler Finally Reveals His Net Neutrality Plan)

‘Here is President Obama’s 332-page plan to regulate the Internet. I wish the public could see what’s inside.’

— Ajit Pai (@AjitPaiFCC) February 6, 2015

“President Obama’s plan marks a monumental shift toward government control of the Internet. It gives the FCC the power to micromanage virtually every aspect of how the Internet works,” Pai said. “The plan explicitly opens the door to billions of dollars in new taxes on broadband… These new taxes will mean higher prices for consumers and more hidden fees that they have to pay.”

In his initial cursory overview of the plan, the commissioner said it would hinder broadband investment, slow network speed and expansion, limit outgrowth to rural areas of the country and reduce Internet service provider (ISP) competition.

“The plan saddles small, independent businesses and entrepreneurs with heavy-handed regulations that will push them out of the market,” Pai said. “As a result, Americans will have fewer broadband choices. This is no accident. Title II was designed to regulate a monopoly. If we impose that model on a vibrant broadband marketplace, a highly regulated monopoly is what we’ll get.”

Sandhya Somashekhar, WaPo: “Judicial defiance in Alabama: Same-sex marriages begin, but most counties refuse”

“MOBILE, Ala. — On the day that same-sex unions became legal in Alabama, local officials in dozens of counties on Monday defied a federal judge’s decision and refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, casting the state into judicial chaos.

Gay couples were able to get licenses in about a dozen places, including Birmingham, Huntsville and a few other counties where probate judges complied with the judge’s decision. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled early Monday that it would deny Alabama’s request to put the marriages on hold.

But in the majority of counties, officials said they would refuse to license same-sex marriages or stop providing licenses altogether, confronting couples — gay and heterosexual — with locked doors and shuttered windows.

Many of the state’s 68 probate judges mounted their resistance to the federal decision at the urging of the firebrand chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Roy Moore. He is best known for refusing more than a decade ago to comply with a court order to remove a monument to the Ten Commandments from the state Supreme Court’s offices.

Chriss Street, Breitbart: “Republican FCC Member Warns Net Neutrality Is Not Neutral”

“Ajit Pai, the sole Republican Commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), inferred in a Tweet that President Barack Obama’s secret, 332-page “Net Neutrality” document is a scheme for federal micro-managing of the Internet to extract billions in new taxes from consumers and again enforce progressives’ idea of honest, equitable, and balanced content fairness.

“FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler recently acknowledged that the two Democrats on the commission had decided to avoid Congressional input regarding the Internet by adopting President Franklin Roosevelt’s 1934 Communications Act to regulate the Internet with the same federal control as the old AT&T customer monopoly. To make sure that libertarian advocates would remain in the dark, Wheeler “embargoed” release of any of the specifics in the new administrative “policy” that will act as law.

“The FCC legislation that was passed eighty-one years ago by the most leftist Congress in American history to ban companies from participating in “unjust or unreasonable discrimination” when providing phone services to customers.

“But in 1949, the Democrat-dominated Commission implemented the “Fairness Doctrine” that required holders of media broadcast licenses to present “issues of public importance” in a manner that is “honest, equitable, and balanced” in the “Commission’s view. It would take 39 years before a conservative Congress could overturn a policy that hijacked the mainstream media to kowtow to liberals or face loss of their licenses. . .”

Roger Simon, PJM: “#JewishLivesMatter

“Thought experiment: What if a white racist with a submachine gun broke into a convenience store in South Central Los Angeles, grabbed seven or eight African Americans who were shopping (maybe there was one Korean) as hostages for the release of some other white racists and then, when attacked, started spewing the N-word while shooting up the place, killing three or four of the African Americans and wounding three or four others, one or two critically.

“How would President Obama react?

“Do you think he would say there was something racial about the obscene incident?  Damn right he would — and he should.  In fact, he would do it forcefully and immediately.  After all, when Trayvon Martin died in far more ambiguous circumstances, he was quick to jump in, identifying with the 17 year old who would resemble, Obama said, his own son if he had one.

“Now consider what our president said about the events at the Hyper Cacher market in Paris on January 9 in a new interview with “It is entirely legitimate for the American people to be deeply concerned when you’ve got a bunch of violent, vicious zealots who behead people or randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris.”

“[V]icious zealots… randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli”?  That’s the way the way the president of the United States describes a dedicated jihadist murdering four Jews in a kosher market in one of the oldest and largest Jewish neighborhoods in Paris, the day after other jihadists shot up the Charlie Hebdo offices, killing even more people? No Jews, no jihadist, just more “random” violence, as if Ahmedy Coulibaly, the man who murdered the four Jews and had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, just stumbled into a kosher deli by accident with a submachine gun while on the way to Cafe de Flore for a cognac. . .”

Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch: “Obama: Iran has “no aspiration to get a nuclear weapon” because “it would be contrary to their faith”

It was reported back in September 2013 that “although talk of such a fatwa has been around for at least eight years, there’s no evidence it was ever issued, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute, which flatly called the fatwa a hoax. MEMRI claims the phony fatwa is promoted by Iranian diplomats and Turkey’s Islamist prime minister, Recep Erdogan. ‘There is no such fatwa. It is a lie from the Iranians, a deception, and it is tragic that President Obama has endorsed it,’ MEMRI Founder and President Yigal Carmon told In July, the Iranian website Tasnimnews, which is linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, published an extensive list of 493 fatwas from Khamenei dating back to 2004. None forbade the pursuit of nuclear weapons.”

“Obama: Iran Won’t Pursue Nuclear Weapons Because It’s ‘Contrary to Their Faith,’” by Bradford Thomas, Real Clear Politics, February 9, 2015 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

In a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel Monday, President Obama said he believed a deal with Iran on nuclear weapons was possible because Supreme Leader Khamenei said it would be ‘contrary to their faith to obtain a nuclear weapon.’”

Mark Levin (2/10/15)

“On Tuesday’s Mark Levin Show: Kayla Mueller was murdered by ISIS and the U.S. now needs to take care of business and be more like George S Patton in fighting these Islamo-nazis. If we don’t blow them off the face of earth they will do it to us. The Obama administration is the most corrupt and detestable administration in American history because they are hostile to Jews and Israel more than any administration ever. We keep hearing President Obama, Josh Earnest, and Jen Psaki play word games with human lives, acting like blatant terrorism is just a terrible accident. This should demonstrate to people on the fence that the left has no compassion for human lives. Also, Obama wants to diversify America through executive amnesty. We’re not supposed to get comfortable with foreign cultures; immigrants are supposed to get comfortable with the American culture. Finally, Senator Ben Sasse calls in to discuss Obama’s ‘temporarily’ suspending deportations but giving social security numbers to illegals. Once you have a social security number you can signed up for the earned income tax credit and collect $24,000.”

Pam Key, Breitbart: “GOP Sen: Illegals Complaining to Border Patrol Over Long Wait to Get ‘Caught’”

“Monday on NewsMax TV’s “America’s Forum,” while discussing his trip to the South Texas border, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said not only are we not deporting illegal immigrants crossing the border, but now because of President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty, they are waiting to get “caught.’

“Johnson told the story of illegal immigrant woman sitting at campfires waiting to be picked up by U.S. Border Patrol agents in buses, and complaining that it took to long to get “caught”  and driven to the process center.

“The woman also demanded the agents bring the buses closer so they didn’t have to walk too far to be apprehended.

“Johnson said, ‘They were coming across the border and they wanted to be apprehended so that we would detain them for a couple days, a couple weeks and they would get in the adjudication process and then they would be dispersed around America, knowing full well they would be able to stay.’”

VF Patriots: February 13th Meeting

We have invited Rick Loughrey who heads up the area Young Republicans based out of West Chester to come for a “social” visit. He plans to bring other YR’s  to visit with us so that we can learn more about what they do, what their mission is, and how we might encourage more younger folks to join us in our endeavors.

Rick is also our Chester County Recorder of Deeds.  He will be running for re-election this coming Fall and I’m sure he would welcome our support.

The VFP is concerned about the president’s over-reaching, unconstitutional actions on amnesty.  Therefore, in line with our goal to be action oriented, we will have a post card writing blitz as part of our meeting. You will be provided with “talking points” or you can create your own.  The post cards will go to our new Congressman, Ryan Costello, who was elected in November to fill Jim Gerlach’s seat in the 6th District and also to Congressman Pat Meehan of PA 7th District.
