DeWaal, Wrangham, and Goodall have described chimpanzee war patrols and gang wars by 20 rhesus (de Waal, Franz. You can also argue that individual monkeys and men vary in impulsiveness, that many middle-eastern male Muslims are more orderly when directed five times per day by an Imam or a Philadelphia cop, and the promise of 72 virgins is straight out of primate research . . . and the “feminization” of a culture makes cities possible and rules inevitable.
“What the West really needs to take on the Islamic State is … a jobs program.
“That’s what a top State Department spokeswoman suggested when asked in a TV interview Monday night about what the U.S.-led coalition is doing to stop the slaughter of civilians by Islamic State militants across the region.
“‘We’re killing a lot of them, and we’re going to keep killing more of them. … But we cannot win this war by killing them,’ department spokeswoman Marie Harf said on MSNBC’s ‘Hardball.’ ‘We need … to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs, whether –‘
“At that point, Harf was interrupted by host Chris Matthews, who pointed out, ‘There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor Muslims.’
“Harf continued to argue that the U.S. should work with other countries to ‘help improve their governance’ and ‘help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people.’
“She acknowledged there’s ‘no easy solution’ and said the U.S. would still take out ISIS leaders. But Harf said: ‘If we can help countries work at the root causes of this — what makes these 17-year-old kids pick up an AK-47 instead of trying to start a business?’. . .”

WSJ: “Shortchanging Missile Defense”
“Within days of President Obama releasing his fiscal 2016 defense budget this month, Pakistan tested a nuclear-capable Ra’ad short-range missile, Russia announced plans to test a new RS-26 intercontinental ballistic missile, Iran launched a satellite into space and North Korea blasted five antiship missiles into the Sea of Japan. Each volley underscored the bad news that Mr. Obama’s budget again shortchanges U.S. missile defenses.
“Of $4 trillion for the federal government overall and $612 billion for defense, Mr. Obama wants $8.1 billion for the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency. That’s up from $7.5 billion last year—the first real-dollar increase since 2011—but the overall trend remains downward. Funding is set to drop again after fiscal 2016, leaving missile defense slashed 25% in real dollars over the Obama Presidency.”
John Hawkins, Townhall: “20 Reasons It Will Be Great To Replace Obama With a Republican in 2016”
“1) It’ll finally give Obama a chance to pursue his real passion, golf.
“2) And it will also give Joe Biden a chance to pursue his lifelong passion: chasing squirrels.
“3) Al Sharpton will have to start paying his taxes again.
“4) We’ll finally have someone in office who doesn’t think it’s a good thing when more Americans end up out of jobs and on the dole.
“5) Forcing public school kids to eat kale and tofu dogs will suddenly drop way down the priority scale for the President of the United States.
“6) The day after a Republican takes office, Obama’s promise to release billions to Iran in return for its vague promise to “sort of” stop building nuclear weapons as long as we don’t verify it won’t be good enough anymore.
“7) Issues like the deficit, stopping ISIS and securing the border will be treated as more important than whom Obama’s taking his next selfie with, how often he can sneak out for a smoke and when he goes on his next vacation.
“8) Since Obama has set the precedent, a Republican President will be able to unilaterally change Obamacare at will. Maybe he could limit the law to members of Congress, their staffs and union members while leaving the rest of us alone.
“9) Even if Ben Carson were to somehow win, the lame excuse for every failure of the President won’t be “racism.”
“10) We’ll have a President in office who’s hostile to the Muslim Brotherhood, illegal aliens and Iran instead of Christians, gun owners and the troops.
“11) Democrats will be able to start railing against high deficit spending again for the first time in 8 years.
“12) For the first time in 8 years, Israel will have someone on its side in office instead of someone who wants to make it easier for terrorists to murder Israelis.
“13) “It’s good for the country” would no longer take a backseat to “We think it might help us in the next election.”
“14) After Obama’s out of office, we can’t impeach him, but we may at least be able to find out what really happened in Benghazi, the Fast and Furious Scandal, the IRS Scandal, Solyndra and the NSA’s snooping on phone calls.
“15) For the first time in 8 years we’ll have a President who doesn’t claim that he learned about almost every major scandal in his administration from watching TV.
“16) Maybe with a Republican in office, we can invent a time machine to take us back and fix all the damage the worst President in history caused over the previous 8 years.
“17) We’ll finally have a President who considers ISIS, nukes in Iran and the deficit to be bigger threats than global warming, people who want to adhere to the Constitution, and Rush Limbaugh.
“18) We’d have a President who cares what happens to soldiers who aren’t gay, atheists or deserters for the first time in 8 years.
“19) Election night 2016 will produce the biggest one night spike in MSNBC’s history as conservatives all over America tune into the network to hear the teary explanations of how the Republicans stole the election.
“20) When Hillary goes down to defeat in 2016, she won’t have to worry about running for President anymore; so she’ll finally be able to divorce Bill, free her flying monkeys and fly off into the sunset on her broomstick.”

AP: “Texas GOP officials cheer ruling on Obama immigration orders”
“AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – The Texas attorney general is hailing a federal judge’s decision to temporarily block President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration.
“Attorney General Ken Paxton says U.S. District Judge Hanen’s Monday ruling is a win for ‘the rule of law in America.’
“Hanen’s decision gives a coalition of 26 states led by Texas time to pursue a lawsuit that aims to permanently stop the orders, which could spare up to five million people in the U.S. from deportation. . .”
Andrew McCarthy, NRO: “Obama’s Amnesty Hits a Legal Roadblock” “If a Texas judge’s temporary stay against it is upheld, it could be headed to the Supreme Court.
“To be clear, the order issued by Judge Andrew Hanen of the U.S. court for the southern district of Texas in Brownsville is a temporary stay. It is not a ruling on the merits of the lawsuit brought by 26 states that claim they will suffer profound financial and other damage from the president’s lawless executive action — an action that Obama himself many times conceded would be lawless before he finally took it late last year.
“Today, the Justice Department will seek an emergency order from the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals to block Judge Hanen’s injunction. There is a good chance the Justice Department will succeed, at least temporarily. If the Fifth Circuit blocks the injunction, that, too, would not be a ruling on the merits of the case. It would just mean a return to the status quo that allows Obama to proceed with the implementation of his amnesty decree.
I imagine we will know by late this afternoon whether the Fifth Circuit will set aside the district court’s injunction.
“Judge Hanen’s order would temporarily prevent the Obama administration from implementing the executive action — in particular, the issuance of positive legal benefits, like work permits, for illegal aliens despite the lack of statutory authorization. The stay would also allow Judge Hanen a chance to issue a final ruling on the merits of the case. Again, he has not at this point conclusively ruled that Obama’s executive amnesty violates the Constitution or other federal law.
“To justify issuing the stay, however, he had to decide that the states that brought the lawsuit had demonstrated a likelihood of success on the merits. . .”

Victor Davis Hanson, NRO: Five Middle East Blunders “The underlying causes of chaos in the Middle East are indigenous. But Obama hasn’t helped.
“President Obama claims he inherited a mess in the Middle East. Not so. “Fracking and horizontal drilling on private lands in the U.S. had taken off in the last years of the Bush administration and by 2009 were set to revolutionize America’s energy future. By 2011, the U.S. had cut way back its dependence on Middle Eastern gas and oil imports, which in turn gave American diplomats a measure of immunity from petro-blackmail, and therefore far more clout in the region. Iraq was mostly stable; in Anbar Province tens of thousands of jihadists had been killed by U.S. troops and their tribal allies. Iran’s scope was limited by a new moderate axis of Sunni states, Israel, and the United States. A bruised Hezbollah faced a huge rebuilding tab in southern Lebanon. Libya was beginning to shed at least some of its bizarre past. The Palestinians had no desire for another Intifada. The Middle East was looking to the U.S. for leadership, inasmuch as the surge in Iraq had regained respect for American arms and determination.
“All that now is ancient history. In five critical areas, the U.S. blew it. . .”

Marisa Schultz, NYPost: “‘Islamic extremism’ off limits at White House terrorism summit”
“WASHINGTON — The White House will kick off a three-day summit Tuesday on combating violent extremism on social media — but the administration won’t focus on Islamic extremism and won’t even mention the term.
“‘You can call them what you want; we’re calling them terrorists,’ a senior Obama administration official said Monday.
“The determination not to mention Islam or Muslims comes as ISIS continues its murderous spree in the name of Islam, most recently beheading 21 Egyptian Christians in Libya. “The rub for the Obama administration is that while the murderers cite their faith as motivation, they don’t represent Islam and, therefore, shouldn’t be associated with the religion. . .”
Charles Krauthammer, WaPo: “Crusaders and appeasers”
“The president’s reaction to a world in turmoil is alarmingly passive.
“His secretary of defense says, ‘The world is exploding all over.’ His attorney general says that the threat of terror ‘keeps me up at night.’ The world bears them out. On Tuesday, American hostage Kayla Mueller is confirmed dead. On Wednesday, the U.S. evacuates its embassy in Yemen, a country cited by President Obama last September as an American success in fighting terrorism.
“Yet Obama’s reaction to, shall we say, turmoil abroad has been one of alarming lassitude and passivity.
“Not to worry, says his national security adviser: This is not World War II. As if one should be reassured because the current chaos has yet to achieve the level of the most devastating conflict in human history. Indeed, insists the president, the real source of our metastasizing anxiety is . . . the news media.
“And America watches. Obama calls the policy ‘strategic patience.’ That’s a synonym for ‘inaction,’ made to sound profoundly ‘strategic.’
“Take Russia. The only news out of Obama’s one-hour news conference with Angela Merkel this week was that he still can’t make up his mind whether to supply Ukraine with defensive weapons. The Russians have sent in T-80 tanks and Grad rocket launchers. We’ve sent in humanitarian aid that includes blankets, MREs and psychological counselors.
“How complementary: The counselors do grief therapy for those on the receiving end of the T-80 tank fire. ‘I think the Ukrainian people can feel confident that we have stood by them,’ said Obama at the news conference.
“Indeed. And don’t forget the blankets. America was once the arsenal of democracy, notes Elliott Abrams. We are now its linen closet. . .”
Charles Krauthammer, Fox: “This is really Islamist Supremacy”
“Charles Krauthammer said Monday on ‘Special Report with Bret Baier’ that the extremist video showing the beheading of several Egyptian Coptic Christians ‘is a kin to Nazism.’
“It’s not just the Islamic radicalism anymore, or Islamic terrorism, which is only a tactic,” said syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer. ‘This is really Islamic supremacy.’
“The White House released a statement condemning the video but addressed the victims as Egyptian citizens and not as Christians. Krauthammer points out that the choice of words used by the administration show that it will not even admit there is religious basis in the gruesome video.
“‘This is a genocidal movement, you kill Christians, you kill Jews, you kill Yazidis but you may in certain circumstances, enslave them, that’s what we’re up against,’ said Krauthammer. ‘And we have an administration that will not even admit there is a religious basis underlying what’s going on.’”
ISR . . .
David Hornik, PJM: “Are They Killing ‘Folks’ Again?”
“What will it take before the President and his supporters start taking antisemitism seriously?
“It’s hard not to notice certain parallels between Saturday’s events in Copenhagen and events in Paris last January 7 and January 9.
“In the latter case, first people were attacked (at the Charlie Hebdo offices) for having insulted Islam, and then “folks” (in President Obama’s memorable formulation) were attacked for being, well, folks. In the Copenhagen case, similarly, first Islam-insulters were attacked, and then…folks.
“In both cases the ‘folks’ were Jews—what a coincidence.
“Of course, sarcasm aside, it wasn’t really a coincidence at all. For thousands of jihadists in the world and many millions of Muslims—certainly not all, but significant numbers—who support them, having been born a Jew is sufficient grounds to be killed. In an earlier iteration, this was known as Nazism.
“Yet, while there is clearly an Islamic tradition of antisemitism rooted in the Koran, Jews and Jew-killing have generally not been an obsession in the Islamic world. What makes our era different, of course, is the existence of that intolerable outrage known as the state of Israel, which occupies one-sixth of 1 percent as much land as the Muslim Arab countries, and of course, an even tinier proportion of the total land mass of the Muslim countries.
“If Israel didn’t exist and there were only some Jewish minorities in today’s world, jihadists and their supporters would not be obsessed with them and attacking them. Because of Israel’s existence, jihadists now view all Jews, wherever they live, as members of the same accursed, demonic tribe that has no right to life. Hence the current situation in Europe, where synagogues and Jewish schools require the presence of armed soldiers and police officers.
“It would be one thing if the assault was basically being mounted by part of the Muslim world while the rest of the world was standing behind Israel and the Jews. Unfortunately, that is hardly the case. The sad reality is that, seven decades after the Holocaust, the Jewish state is the most vilified country in the world, and the Western countries play a large role in the vilification.
“A poll this year, for instance, finds that Britons view only North Korea as worse than Israel, while viewing Iran, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia more favorably than Israel. Also this year, a poll finds 35 percent of Germans equating Israeli policies with those of the Nazis and 48 percent having a ‘poor’ opinion of Israel. More generally, a BBC poll of world opinion in 2013 found only North Korea, Pakistan, and Iran to be less popular than Israel.
Other examples abound, of course. . .”

No, not the 40th anniversary program of Saturday Night Live, but The New York Times newspaper coverage of climate change, which in this context is bitterly humorous.
“There was the February 9, 2014, Times article headlined “The End of Snow,” which ran on the front page of the paper’s Sunday Review section, and which the ever-shrewd Matt Drudge remembered, and linked from his Drudge Report site, amid the snowmaggeddon roughly a year later. “In the Northeast, more than half of the 103 ski resorts may no longer be viable in 30 years because of warmer winters,” the article warned. “It’s easy to blame the big oil companies and the billions of dollars they spend on influencing the media and popular opinion. But the real reason is a lack of knowledge. I know, because I, too, was ignorant until I began researching the issue for a book on the future of snow…. This is no longer a scientific debate. “. . . This next push of arctic air is expected to bring air that is just as cold, or even colder than the air that brought subzero lows to the Midwest and Northeast during the weekend.
Millions will shiver from Chicago to New York City as record lows are challenged during this bitter blast. Records may also fall across parts of the South where temperatures manage to fall into the teens and single digits.
“Such cold will be dangerous to those who lose power during the recent ice storm. As of Tuesday morning, a couple of hundred thousand customers were still without power in the South.
“Some southern cities forecast to dip into the teens or lower include Birmingham, Alabama; Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbia, South Carolina; Nashville and Atlanta.
Floridians will even experience a taste of the arctic chill with temperatures dipping down to the lower 30s in cities such as Orlando, Melbourne and Daytona Beach.
“The worst of the cold is expected to focus on the Midwest on Wednesday before shifting east over the East for Thursday into Friday.

Pam Geller: $10,000 Muhammad Art and Cartoon Contest to be Held at Site of ‘Stand with the Prophet’ Conference in Texas
By Bob Price, Breitbart, Feb 2015
“Pamela Geller is planning a ‘Draw the Prophet’ event in Garland, Texas in the same location as a Muslim group held a ‘Stand with the Prophet’ conference in January. The First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest will be hosted by the Curtis Caldwell Center, which is owned and operated by the Garland Independent School District.
“Geller’s event comes on the wake of the Islamic terrorist attack on the French magazine Charlie Hebdo in January. Following the attack, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) scheduled the “Stand with the Prophet” conference at the public school district’s conference center. Geller, the President of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), scheduled a protest outside the event that was attended by approximately 2,000 people.
“During the Free Speech Rally in Garland, Geller spoke with Breitbart Texas about her reaction to the large and loud crowd of protesters. She said that Muslims are trying to impose restrictions on free speech like they are doing in Paris. ‘Thousands of Americans said ‘no way!’’
“‘The media can smear us and the President can stand with them,’ Geller said. ‘We the people are not having it. If there is any proof of that, it’s today. We dwarfed them.’
‘If the Western media ran the Danish cartoons back when this Islamic supremacist movement first started gaining steam, the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo would be alive today,’ Geller stated in response to an inquiry from Breitbart Texas. ‘That said, the European press ran the Hebdo cartoons in the wake of that jihad slaughter. But the American press would not. The beacon of freedom, the shining light on a hill, is running scared. Well, that’s not who we are. The elites do not represent the people.’
“‘Enough is enough,’ she explained. ‘They’re just cartoons. We’re holding this exhibit and cartoon contest to show how insane the world has become — with people in the free world tiptoeing in terror around supremacist thugs who actually commit murder over cartoons. If we can’t stand up for the freedom of speech, we will lose it — and with it, free society.’
“The art exhibit and contest will be held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland on May 3rd. This was the site of a Muslim conference denouncing ‘Islamophobia’ — an obscene stand for them to take after the Charlie Hebdo massacre – and our massive Free Speech Rally outside that event,’ Geller wrote in a press release obtained by Breitbart Texas.
“The contest will take submissions online and the winner will be announced at the event in Garland. The winning cartoonist will receive a $10,000 prize. The exhibit will feature images of Islam’s prophet in both historical and contemporary settings. There will also be a series of speeches by internationally renowned free-speech advocates.
“Geller explained that the art exhibit is the next logical step following AFDI’s Free Speech Rally in Garland. ‘This event will stand for free speech and show that Americans will not be cowed by violent Islamic intimidation,’ she stated. ‘That is a crucial stand to take as Islamic assaults on the freedom of speech, our most fundamental freedom, are growing more insistent.’
“‘Of course, this event will require massive security,’ she assured potential attendees. ‘But this exhibit has to be staged. If we don’t show the jihadis that they will not frighten us into silence, the jihad against freedom will only grow more virulent.’
“An author and activist with passionate fans and detractors, Geller has been sounding the alarm about Muslim encroachment into Europe and America and the possible impact on American culture in the future. The Free Speech Rally Geller organized is one of many activities she has created to shine the light on radical Islam and the teachings of Imam’s in mosques in the United States. In June, 2010, Geller organized and led a group of approximately 5,000 protesters (Geller released this estimate) to march on the site of the site of the proposed ‘Ground Zero Mosque.’
“Eventually, plans for the mosque were cancelled.
“Geller is also listed as an ‘Extremist’ on the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) website. The SPLC says she is the ‘anti-Muslim movement’s most visible and flamboyant figurehead. She’s relentlessly shrill and coarse in her broad-based denunciations of Islam.’ The organization also lists AFDI as an anti-Muslim hate group.”

“We hope that you will join the fight and sign our petition to hold Tom Wolf Accountable TODAY!
“Now, before you sign this, I want to be very clear with you on our intent. Right now we are preparing and we are mobilizing our base because we plan on taking ACTION in early March. The gloves are coming off, and we plan on holding these Commie politicians accountable.
