Michael Walsh, PJM: “Make Obama’s Secret Trade Deal the Hill the GOP Establishment Dies On”

“Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the Grand Old Party and take them out. If conservatives — who are just now realizing the extent of the bait-and-switch double-cross that the loathsome Mitch McConnell and Weepy John Boehner have pulled on them — must now make common cause with their “friends” across the aisle in the interests of recapturing the Party of Reagan, so be it. Sometimes the enemy of my enemy really is my friend.

“That the Republican Establishment has lined up in lockstep with President Obama really tells you all you need to know about the minority wing of the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Government — ever bigger, ever more secretive, ever more disdainful of American sovereignty and of the voters who put them in office. The measure has already passed in McConnell’s Senate, so its fate is now up to Boehner’s House . . .”

Jake Sherman et al., Politico: “Obama rushes to Capitol to save trade deal”

“President Barack Obama is heading to Capitol Hill Friday morning to meet with House Democrats in a last-minute bid save his trade agenda.

The 9:30 a.m. meeting is a huge and risky moment for the president, as a package of trade bills is stalled because of Democratic opposition. The president needs to convince Democrats to back a bill, known as Trade Adjustment Assistance, that would provide aid and retraining to workers who lose their jobs due to trade agreements. The measure, which is in jeopardy, must pass before the House can vote on Trade Promotion Authority, which gives Obama fast-track authority to negotiate the massive Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Story Continued Below

Both Republicans and Democrats were predicting that TAA was potentially headed for defeat — bringing down fast track with it — unless the dynamic dramatically shifted this morning. Obama’s visit to Capitol Hill, a rare round of personal lobbying by a president not known for his relationships with lawmakers, was designed to do just that.

Obama also made an appearance at the congressional baseball game on Thursday night, and top administration officials — including Labor Secretary Thomas Perez, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, and White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough — have been meeting with Democrats for the past several days.

Phyllis Schlafly, WND: “Hillary’s plans to stuff the ballot box”

Thx Ted!

“. . . Since Hillary won’t have the youthful exuberance that propelled Obama to his unlikely double victory, she plans to build a whole new electorate out of people who didn’t vote for Obama. That’s the gist of her speech in Houston last week, which her friends at MSNBC called a “far-reaching vision for expanding access to the ballot box.”

“Who are the new voters to whom Hillary wants to give ‘access to the ballot box’? They include felons and non-citizens, along with anyone who can’t prove identity, citizenship, or residence within the voting precinct.

“She also plans to harvest millions of new votes by expanding the dangerous practices of same-day registration and early voting, which enable Democrats to badger, berate, bribe, or bamboozle reluctant low-information voters to the polls. Democratic Party and union workers can identify reluctant voters and harass them until the party worker verifies that they have actually cast their ballot.

“In her new book, “Adios, America,” Ann Coulter asks a relevant question: ‘Should Democrats be given 30 million new voters?” Answering her own question, Ann says, “There is simply no reason for Republicans to legalize 30 million people who will vote 8-2 against them.’. . .”

Hello Everyone in PA,

There have been some positive developments in obtaining a DELAY in the graduation requirement for the Keystone.  Much of this is undoubtedly due to so many of you who have contacted your legislators.  Dr. Scanlon, the Superintendent of the West Chester School District, sent the letter below to a Legislative Committee in our school district explaining the current situation.  I urge you to read it for specific details.  The following quotes from his letter summarize the key points:

“SB 880 would delay implementation of Keystone Exams as a graduation requirement until the graduating class of 2019 (current 8th grade class), effective immediately.  There is similar language being written in the House of Representatives Omnibus Bill.

Jake Corman is the Senate Majority Leader and has complete control over what gets voted on. He has been in favor of Keystone Exams and could hold things up.   I will be calling his office later this week to ask for his support to bring this to a senate floor vote.  If he supports it we can write letters thanking him and others for supporting it.  If he holds it up, we will need to focus efforts to write and call his office.”

Please contact Senator Corman ASAP and ask him to bring SB 880 to the Senate floor.  The web page for sending an E-mail to him is: .  This page also gives phone numbers of his various offices.  Please E-mail AND phone if you can.  A delay is a good first step in removing the graduation requirement entirely.   Please continue your efforts.

The letter written by Dr. Scanlon explaining the current situation follows:

June 9 2015

Dear Legislative Action Committee,

Senate Bill 880 passed very quickly out of the Senate Education Committee this morning with a unanimous vote from all committee members, including Senators Pileggi, Dinniman, Folmer, Scarnatti,   Eichelberger, Leach, Teplitz, and Williams.  Sen. Lloyd Smucker was convinced by all the letters and phone calls he received about Keystone Exams to put a bill in that would delay implementation for two years so a new assessment system can be worked out.  He introduced the bill on Friday, it got voted out of committee unanimously today and is on to the full senate for a vote.

SB 880 would delay implementation of Keystone Exams as a graduation requirement until the graduating class of 2019 (current 8th grade class), effective immediately.  There is similar language being written in the House of Representatives Omnibus Bill.

I believe it is critically important to pass this legislation ASAP because this Friday we are scheduled to send information to parents about summer Keystone remediation and summer opportunities to take the exams again.  If this bill becomes law, it will save money, time and emotional drain on students this summer.

The bill needs to pass the Senate, then go to the House for a vote.  If it passes the House, the governor will most likely sign the bill into law.

Thanks again for everyone’s help.  All the writing, emails and phone calls are making a difference for legislators.  All of you are making a huge difference for students in every classroom in Pennsylvania Public Schools.  Thanks for all you are doing!

WSJ: “Dirty Rotten Ethanol Scoundrels”

Thx Ted!

“. . . the Agriculture Department offered to pick up the tab and pledged $100 million in grants for states to build special equipment to service the six of every 100 U.S. vehicles designed to run on these higher ethanol blends. These dollars were pulled from a New Deal outfit called the Commodity Credit Corporation that was created in 1933 to “stabilize, support and protect farm income and prices,” as the USDA proudly put it in a press release.

“At least this naked income transfer to ethanol producers respects truth in advertising. Ethanol has been sold for four decades as a wonder liquid that would reduce dependence on foreign oil and then carbon emissions, but reams of academic research and the evidence of experience show it achieves the opposite of both goals.

“Such is the corruption of corporate welfare, which continues for no reason other than that it already exists. The cycle won’t end until Congress allows consumers to buy, well, E-zero.

Guy Taylor, Washington Times: “U.N. report accuses Obama of hiding Iran sanctions violations to get deal with nukes”

“A newly revealed United Nations report accuses Iranian leaders of regularly violating international sanctions and asserts that several Western powers — including the United States — ignored the infractions to protect ongoing nuclear talks with the Islamic republic.

“The Obama administration and its negotiating partners in the so-called P5+1 — Britain, Germany, France, China and Russia — have turned a blind eye to suspected sanctions violations, according to the report, which the U.N. analysts have been drafting for months.

“According to Bloomberg News, the report was published June 1. Researchers who worked on it concluded that there could be a variety of explanations for the silence from Western powers. . .”

Daniel Henninger, WSJ: “Bye, Bye, American History”

“The memory hole, a creation of George Orwell’s novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four,” was a mechanism for separating a society’s disapproved ideas from its dominant ideas. The unfavored ideas disappeared, Orwell wrote, “on a current of warm air” into furnaces.

“In the U.S., the memory-sorting machine may be the College Board’s final revision of the Advanced Placement examination for U.S. history, to be released later this summer.

“The people responsible for the new AP curriculum really, really hate it when anyone says what they are doing to U.S. history is tendentious and destructive. In April, the nine authors of the “curriculum framework” published a relatively brief open letter to rebut “uninformed criticisms” of the revision.

“Last week, 56 professors and historians published a petition on the website of the National Association of Scholars, urging opposition to the College Board’s framework. Pushback against the new AP U.S. history curriculum has also emerged in Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Georgia. . .”

Investors: “Don’t Look Now, but ‘JV’ ISIS May Soon Have A Nuke”

“A report from a trusted U.S. ally claims the Islamic State now has enough radioactive material to make a dirty bomb — a terrorist WMD. This is the post-9/11 world President Obama has wrought.

Julie Bishop, Australia’s foreign minister, says NATO is alarmed over dangerous materials that the Islamic State has taken from laboratories and hospitals, in particular nuclear material.

“‘This is really worrying them,’ Bishop told the Australian newspaper. And Britain’s Independent, citing Australian intelligence, reports that IS has ‘enough radioactive material from government facilities to … build a large and devastating ‘dirty’ bomb.’

“This is alarming on a number of levels. Just last month, IS announced its desire to create weapons of mass destruction and claimed it might be able to buy a working nuclear weapon from Pakistan within a year.

“Given the shambles that U.S. Mideast policy is in after nearly seven years of diplomatic ineptitude, that’s a very real and frightening threat. . .” RT: “Obama zombies’: Americans sign prankster’s petition to nuke Russia (VIDEO)”

“US journalist Mark Dice has asked the people of San Diego to sign President Barack Obama’s “plan” to nuke Russia to “maintain America’s superiority.” The majority of beachgoers didn’t appear to get the joke, and signed the fake petition.

“The ‘experiment’ was recorded on video, whichMark Dice thenshared on his Twitter, YouTube and Facebook accounts.

“‘We just need a couple more signatures to support President [Barack] Obama’s new plan to deal with Russia,’ Dice tell a random man whom he stops. ‘We are going to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike.’

“The man, who does not seem to be much familiar with the issue, cuts off Dice in mid-sentence, and says: ‘I’ll sign it for you.’. . .”

Virginia Postrel, Bloomberg: “Reason Magazine Subpoena Stomps on Free Speech”

“Wielding subpoenas demanding information on anonymous commenters, the government is harassing a respected journalism site that dissents from its policies. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York claims these comments could constitute violent threats, even though they’re clearly hyperbolic political rhetoric.

“This is happening in America — weirdly, to a site I founded, and one whose commenters often earned my public contempt.

“Los Angeles legal blogger Ken White has obtained a grand jury subpoena issued to, the online home of the libertarian magazine I edited throughout the 1990s. The subpoena seeks information about commenters who posted in response to an article by the site’s editor Nick Gillespie about the letter that Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht wrote to Judge Katherine B. Forrest before she sentenced him to life in prison without parole. Ulbricht was convicted of seven felony charges, included conspiracies to traffic in narcotics and launder money, and faced a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison. The letter was an appeal for leniency.

“Gillespie, who declined to comment on the subpoena, aptly described the letter as ‘haunting.’ . . .”

“Our own Dave Berg has been studying the Communist Manifesto and will discuss his findings with us and some of the history. Are there parallels with what is going on in the USA today?  If so, what are they and what do they mean?

“Also, help the VFP make plans for the Fall and the upcoming election season. Shoifuld we team up with another group or groups in an effort to be more effective? If yes, then who?

“Our Legislative Action committee will update us on their plans. We will be reaching out to members who would like to be part of the Legislative Outreach project. The project will be working to obtain a meeting with one or more of our legislators in September or earlier.

“We will hold a Straw Poll (just for fun) to see where members stand on their choice for a new President.
