Paul Sperry, NY Post: “Obama collecting personal data for a secret race database” (Replay)

And BO and Val will take it with them . . . and most data analysts ignore the contribution of self-selection. That is, every living critter makes its own world. . . Data sets ignore the contribution of the participants to the choices they make. Start with Gregory Clark, “The Son Also Rises”. . . It also strikes me that “presidential” records belong to the taxpayer, not the president. Other government employees are expected to leave with their fountain pen and nothing else. We set a bad precedent with “presidential libraries,” one that creates money pits and mischief . . .

A key part of President Obama’s legacy will be the fed’s unprecedented collection of sensitive data on Americans by race. The government is prying into our most personal information at the most local levels, all for the purpose of “racial and economic justice.”

“Unbeknown to most Americans, Obama’s racial bean counters are furiously mining data on their health, home loans, credit cards, places of work, neighborhoods, even how their kids are disciplined in school — all to document “inequalities” between minorities and whites.

“This Orwellian-style stockpile of statistics includes a vast and permanent network of discrimination databases, which Obama already is using to make ‘disparate’ cases against: banks that don’t make enough prime loans to minorities; schools that suspend too many lacks; cities that don’t offer enough Section 8 and other low-income housing for minorities; and employers who turn down African-Americans for jobs due to criminal backgrounds.

“Big Brother Barack wants the databases operational before he leaves office, and much of the data in them will be posted online.

“So civil-rights attorneys and urban activist groups will be able to exploit them to show patterns of ‘racial disparities’ and ‘segregation,’ even if no other evidence of discrimination exists. . .

Dan Balz & Peyton Craighill, WaPo: “Poll: Trump surges to big lead in GOP presidential race”

“Businessman Donald Trump surged into the lead for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, with almost twice the support of his closest rival, just as he ignited a new controversy after making disparaging remarks about Sen. John McCain’s Vietnam War service, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

“Support for Trump fell sharply on the one night that voters were surveyed following those comments. Telephone interviewing for the poll began Thursday, and most calls were completed before the news about the remarks was widely reported.

“Although the sample size for the final day was small, the decline was statistically significant. Still, it is difficult to predict what could happen to Trump’s support in the coming days and weeks as the controversy plays out.

“Even with the drop in support on the final night of the survey, Trump was the favorite of 24 percent of registered Republicans and Republican-leaning independents. That is the highest percentage and biggest lead recorded by any GOP candidate this year in Post-ABC News polls and marks a sixfold increase in his support since late May, shortly before he formally joined the race. . .”

Also: Sandy Fitzgerald, Newsmax: “Rush: Trump Tells Establishment to ‘Go to Hell’”

Donald Trump is defying ‘conventional belief’ by doubling down and refusing to apologize to Sen. John McCain for comments made over the weekend that at first questioned the senator’s reputation as a war hero before saying that he is one, talk show host Rush Limbaugh said Monday. “‘The American people haven’t seen something like this in a long time,’ Limbaugh said on his radio program. ‘They have not seen an embattled public figure stand up, double down, and tell everyone to go to hell.’ “Limbaugh insisted that he is not a Trump apologist, but said the media and politicians are following a typical trail they use when they want to get rid of a public figure, and the talk show host said a similar pattern is often followed on his own controversial statements. “‘Under conventional belief, a public figure makes a politically incorrect statement that offends somebody,’ said Limbaugh. ‘The Washington establishment and media react in outrage, and the media replays the offensive comment over and over and over.’ “Eventually, the establishment ‘gets together with the media’ and all demand the public figure apologize, beg forgiveness, and withdraw from public life and ‘stay in chagrined irrelevance,’ said Limbaugh.”

Austin Ruse, Big Govt: “New Video Shows another Planned Parenthood Doctor Haggling Price of Baby Body Parts”

“In the second video released today by the Center for Medical Progress, yet another senior medical adviser to Planned Parenthood of America appears to negotiate the price of selling baby body parts to actors playing entrepreneurs from a start-up biotech firm.

“Dr. Mary Gatter, President of Planned Parenthood’s Medical Director’s Council, is asked, “What would you expect for intact tissue?”

“Gatter starts to haggle immediately, “Why don’t you start by telling me what you’re used to paying?”

“When pushed for a number, Gatter says, “Well, you know in negotiations the person who throws out the figure first is at a loss, right? So…”

“When pushed again for how much her Planned Parenthood affiliate is willing to sell baby body parts for, she responds, “Okay, $75.”

“When the buyer tells her that number seems low Gatter responds, “I was going to say $50.”

“Then the buy offers her $100 to which Gatter quickly responds, ‘Okay.’ . . .”

Also – Jeff Jacoby, Boston Globe: “Planned Parenthood videos should appall even pro-choice advocates”

“It’s not often that a business-lunch conversation becomes a viral YouTube video. But then, it’s not often that a top Planned Parenthood official is recorded discussing, over a leisurely lunch of salad and red wine, the business of selling fetal organs harvested from aborted babies.

“More than 2.5 million people have seen the undercover video in which Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, readily details the ins and outs of harvesting the body parts of aborted fetuses, which are then sold for research. Nucatola thought she was speaking to buyers for a fetal-tissue supply firm in California. In fact, her lunch companions were researchers for the pro-life Center for Medical Progress, which posted the recording online — both the full footage, as well as a nine-minute abridged version.

“The video came as a bombshell. Selling fetal organs for profit is illegal under federal law, yet Nucatola appears quite candid in describing Planned Parenthood’s lively commercial interest in human tissue from abortion. She is alert to market demand — “I’d say a lot of people want liver,” she tells her lunch companions — and understands how to carry out an abortion to maximize the quality of the organs that can be supplied to buyers afterward.

“‘We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that,’ says Nucatola, ‘so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.’ She talks about properly trained abortion doctors using ultrasound to ensure that forceps don’t damage organs destined for sale. When she is asked for a “price range,” Nucatola replies: ‘I would say it’s probably anywhere from $30 to $100’ per specimen, depending on the facility.

“Planned Parenthood adamantly insists that it does not traffic in fetal remains. Women who have abortions ‘sometimes want to donate tissue to scientific research,’ the organization said in a formal statement, and Planned Parenthood receives ‘no financial benefit’ for facilitating such donations — merely compensation for its ‘actual costs,’ which is legal.

“As a matter of law, Planned Parenthood may be on solid ground. But it isn’t illegality that makes this video so scandalous. It is amorality. It is the nonchalance with which Planned Parenthood’s senior medical director schmoozes, between swigs of wine and forkfuls of salad, about dismembering a healthy unborn child and selling its parts for ‘anywhere from $30 to $100’ apiece. It is the sheer indifference to the enormity of destroying life in the womb and then ‘donating’ the wreckage for money.’. . .”

IRAN . . .

Fred Fleitz, NRO: “IAEA Tells Congressmen of Two Secret Side Deals to Iran Agreement That Won’t Be Shared with Congress”

“Senator Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) and Congressmen Mike Pompeo (R., Kan.) issued a press release yesterday on a startling discovery they made during a July 17 meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency officials in Vienna: There are two secret side deals to the nuclear agreement with Iran that will not be shared with other nations, with Congress, or with the U.S. public.

“One of these side deals concerns inspection of the Parchin military base, where Iran reportedly has conducted explosive testing related to nuclear-warhead development. The Iranian government has refused to allow the IAEA to visit this site. Over the last several years, Iran has taken steps to clean up evidence of weapons-related activity at Parchin.

“The other secret side deal concerns how the IAEA and Iran will resolve outstanding issues on possible military dimensions (PMDs) of Iran’s nuclear program. In late 2013, Iran agreed to resolve IAEA questions about nuclear weapons-related work in twelve areas. Iran only answered questions in one of these areas and rejected the rest as based on forgeries and fabrications. Former Department of Energy official William Tobey explained in a July 15 Wall Street Journal op-ed why it is crucial that Iran resolve the PMD issue. According to Tobey, “for inspections to be meaningful, Iran would have to completely and correctly declare all its relevant nuclear activities and procurement, past and present.”

“According to the Cotton/Pompeo press release, there will be a secret, opaque procedure to verify Iran’s compliance with these side agreements. The press release says: According to the IAEA, the Iran agreement negotiators, including the Obama administration, agreed that the IAEA and Iran would forge separate arrangements to govern the inspection of the Parchin military complex — one of the most secretive military facilities in Iran — and how Iran would satisfy the IAEA’s outstanding questions regarding past weaponization work.

“Both arrangements will not be vetted by any organization other than Iran and the IAEA, and will not be released even to the nations that negotiated the JCPOA [Iran nuclear agreement]. This means that the secret arrangements have not been released for public scrutiny and have not been submitted to Congress as part of its legislatively mandated review of the Iran deal.

“This means that two crucial measures of Iranian compliance with the nuclear agreement will not be disclosed to Congress despite the requirements of the Corker-Cardin bill (the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act), which requires the Obama administration to provide the U.S. Congress with all documents associated with the agreement, including all “annexes, appendices, codicils, side agreements [emphasis added], implementing materials, documents, and guidance, technical, or other understandings and any related agreements, whether entered into or implemented prior to the agreement or to be entered into or implemented in the future.’ It also means that Congress will have no way of knowing whether Iran complied with either side agreement. . .”

Hillel Fradkin & Lewis Libby, WSJ: “Iran Inspections in 24 Days? Not Even Close”

“Iran can easily stretch out the inspection of suspect nuclear sites for three months or more.

“The Obama administration assures Americans that the Iran deal grants access within 24 days to undeclared but suspected Iranian nuclear sites. But that’s hardly how a recalcitrant Iran is likely to interpret the deal. A close examination of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action released by the Obama administration reveals that its terms permit Iran to hold inspectors at bay for months, likely three or more.

“Paragraphs 74 to 78 govern the International Atomic Energy Agency’s access to suspect sites. First, the IAEA tells Iran “the basis” of its concerns about a particular location, requesting clarification. At this point Iran will know where the IAEA is headed. Iran then provides the IAEA with “explanations” to resolve IAEA concerns. This stage has no time limit.

“Opportunities for delay abound. Iran will presumably want to know what prompted the IAEA’s concern. The suspect site identified by the IAEA is likely to be remote, and Iran will no doubt say that it must gather skilled people and equipment to responsibly allay IAEA concerns. Iran may offer explanations in stages, seeking IAEA clarifications before “completing” its response. That could take a while.

“Only if Iran’s “explanations do not resolve the IAEA’s concerns” may the IAEA then “request access” to the suspect site. Oddly, the agreement doesn’t specify who judges whether the explanations resolve concerns. If Iran claims that it has a say in the matter, the process may stall here. Assuming Iran grants that the IAEA can be the judge, might Iran claim that the “great Satan” improperly influenced IAEA conclusions? Let’s assume that Tehran won’t do that.

“Now the IAEA must provide written reasons for the request and “make available relevant information.” Let’s assume that even though the IAEA may resist revealing the secret sources or technical means that prompted its suspicions, Iran acknowledges that a proper request has been supplied.

“Only then do the supposed 24 days begin to run. . .”

Julian Hattem, TheHill: “UN backs Iran deal, infuriating lawmakers from both parties”

“White House urges Congress to judge Iran deal ‘on its merits’

“White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest says the Iranian government will be under intense pressure to make sure the sanctions don’t return. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

“The Obama administration was forced to play defense on Monday after lawmakers in both parties criticized its decision to let the United Nations — not Congress — have the first say on the Iran nuclear deal.

“Republicans pounced on the decision following the U.N. Security Council’s 15-0 vote, arguing the White House was giving short shrift to congressional assent in a rush to build international support for the agreement.

“The White House appeared to hope that the U.N. vote would build pressure on Congress to back the deal, but the strategy risked backfiring, with some Democrats scolding the administration for the decision. . .”

Leo Knepper, CAP: “Republicans Spending Big Money to Elect Union Boss”

“A few weeks ago, we noted that the Delaware County GOP had selected the local AFL-CIO boss to be their candidate in an upcoming special election.

“The state Republican Party is now getting involved in support of Paul Mullen. You may recall that Mullen campaigned against Sen. Pat Toomey and a local Republican Senate candidate in 2014. Not surprisingly, Mullen’s support of Democratic candidates and policies has not made it into the GOP’s media campaign.

“We estimate that the Mullen campaign, state GOP, and unions will spend in the neighborhood of $150,000 in an attempt to elect a far-left Republican to the State House. The next time you get a fundraising email from the Pennsylvania Republican Party, keep in mind that these are the types of candidates your money may be going to help. The irony is that the state GOP homepage features a fundraising plea to ‘help stop Barak Obama’ but the Party is now spending money to elect someone who campaigned for his union to put Obama in the White House.

“The CAP PAC has endorsed Lisa Esler and is expending our resources to help her win a write-in campaign. She is the only candidate who a pro-taxpayer reform agenda.”

Jo Yurchak: Opt Out

As you know, I and many others have been active in encouraging students to opt out of the PSSA’s and Keystones for a variety of reasons.  I am attaching a Letter to the Editor that was published in three local newspapers that encourages parents to opt out of these tests, which could, if enacted in large numbers, prompt Harrisburg to ‘devise a less disruptive and more appropriate assessment system in which students are the prime beneficiaries, in contrast to the current system which exploits students and uses them as unwilling ‘operatives’ for rating educators and schools.’

So…that’s where I’m coming from.  There are different groups with very diverse political viewpoints working on this worthwhile opt out movement.  Political agendas should NOT be involved in an educational effort of this sort which is why I thought it would be no problem for all of us to work together.  Something that came to my attention yesterday changed my mind.  I will explain below.

I was sent an E-Mail yesterday by an activist in the Philadelphia opt out movement that stated: ” UOO (United Opt Out) will be hosting its fifth annual meeting here in Philadelphia in February. We’re coming to the issue from a pretty radical left position, which might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you are interested, here’s the link to the event:

There will be keynote speakers, panels, and working groups on a variety of topics and it will draw education activists from across the country.

The phrase ‘radical left position’ got my attention and after accessing the web site for United Opt Out I found that the description of UOO was an understatement.  I urge you to read information on the web site so you can decide for yourself.  The event has the inflammatory title ‘Transcending Resistance, Igniting Revolution,’ and on the fundraising page ( has such seditious comments as: ‘It is time for revolution,’ and ‘It is time for non-negotiable demands.’  Although I realize that Bill Ayers has had his hands on educational ‘reform’ for years, eschewing individualism and promoting collectivism, the fact that this domestic terrorist was selected as a Keynote speaker is simply beyond my comprehension.

I will say that I agree with many of the contentions of UOO such as the inappropriateness of the massive testing and their well-founded assertions and concerns that educational (and other) corporations are making huge profits on the backs of our children.  That said, after reviewing the biographies of the speakers, the titles of the breakout sessions and the terminology on the web page, it is apparent to me that United Opt Out is just one of a variety of radical-Left groups that have political agendas that extend beyond education and that are collaborating to break down our current political system as we know it.  Believe me, I’m NOT saying there aren’t problems and deficiencies in our system that need to be addressed, but these groups, in my opinion, are out to demolish it and remake it to fit their far-Left agenda.  I believe that continuing to work together with revolutionary groups such as this, even for an issue on which we agree, could facilitate their efforts in other areas which is why I have determined not to do so.

Thanks for listening.  I have provided the resources and web sites for you in this E-mail and urge you to read them and make your own decision about this group — United Opt Out.   It is truly a shame that individuals in Philadelphia and elsewhere, in conjunction with UOO, have interjected such far-Left partisan agendas into the legitimate opt out effort.

Fox: “Ernst: Obama’s Delayed Decision to Fly Flags at Half-Staff Is ‘Inexcusable’”

“Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) told Neil Cavuto that President Obama’s delay in ordering all flags be flown at half-staff at the White House and at U.S. federal buildings in honor of the Chattanooga attack victims is ‘inexcusable.’

“Obama has faced days of criticism for not immediately ordering the flags to be lowered after the attack happened.

Fox News reported:

‘In a proclamation issued early Tuesday afternoon, Obama said of the Chattanooga victims, ‘We honor their service. We offer our gratitude to the police officers and first responders who stopped the rampage and saved lives. We draw strength from yet another American community that has come together with an unmistakable message to those who would try and do us harm: We do not give in to fear. You cannot divide us. And you will not change our way of life.’

“He ordered flags flown at half-staff at the White House and ‘all public buildings and grounds,’ as well as over military posts and naval stations and vessels — until July 25. Flags will be flown at half-staff at U.S. embassies and other overseas diplomatic offices.

“Four Marines – Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Lance Cpl. Skip Wells, Sgt. Carson Holmquist and Staff Sgt. David Wyatt – and Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith were killed in the shootings at two military centers.

“Ernst said that she applauds Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for lowering the flags at the U.S. Capitol building.

“‘I think we need to honor those that lost their lives in Chattanooga,’ she stated. ‘The president’s reaction was a little bit delayed, and that’s inexcusable.’. . .”

Mark Levin (7/21/15)

“On Tuesday’s Mark Levin Show: There’s so much destructive activity going on in this country under the guise of compassion. We have illegal immigrants coming to America from all over the world and we have no idea what their motives are because they aren’t being processed or assimilated. Sanctuary city policies resonate to the criminal element of illegal aliens, protecting them from the law while promoting illegal activity. Donald Trump resonated with so many because he was able to get a message out in a few minutes that many have been trying to get out for years. Also, once liberty is lost it’s hard to get back, and it’s future generations that suffer the most. Most of the Republicans running for president would allow the destructive policies of the left to continue and destroy the future of our children. America’s status as a great nation isn’t being threatened by any foreign power, but from within. We must defend this nation and its institutions, customs, and traditions. We need to take the stand and make the effort today; this is the new civil rights movement. Later, Mark speaks with David Daleiden from the Center for Medical Progress about the corruption of Planned Parenthood. Finally, Mark is joined by Sen. Rand Paul to discuss his tax plan.”

Barb: Ant & Grasshopper Revised

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and  laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS,  NBC, PBS, CNN, and  ABC show up to provide  pictures of the shivering grasshopper next  to a video of the ant in  his comfortable home with a table filled with food.  America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not EasyBeing Green …’

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the SEIU group singing, “We shall overcome.”

Then Rev Al Sharpton’s assistant has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper while he damns the ants. The Reverend Al cannot attend as he has contractual commitments to appear on his MSNBC show for which he is paid over two million dollars a year to complain that rich people do not care.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview on The View that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper,  and  both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s  food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just  happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles  around them because the grasshopper  doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now  abandoned, is taken over  by a gang of spiders  who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous   and  peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses, bringing the rest of  the free world with it.

MORAL  OF THE STORY: Be  careful how you vote in 2016.
