“Rosh Hashanah: Evening of Sunday Sept 13th until evening of September 15th. Rosh Hashanah, which begins at sundown Sunday is the Jewish New Year. It’s based on an ancient calendar, which starts with the creation of Adam and Eve and uses a different measure than our solar year calendar. This new year is the start of the Jewish year 5775. Sunday is also the start of the Jewish High Holy Days. It’s the most important time of the year for Jews and is observed over 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Victor Davis Hanson, NRO: “America’s Descent into Lawlessness”

“Do you remember Lewis ‘Scooter’ Libby?

“Yet Plame may not have been a covert undercover agent, based on the formal government definition of that role. And even if she were, it was widely known at the time that Secretary of State Colin Powell’s subordinate, Richard Armitage, had most likely disclosed her status earlier.

“In other words, Libby was in an Orwellian position of being accused of a crime that may not have existed. But if it had, it was more likely committed by someone else.

“Publicity-seeking special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald persuaded a Washington, D.C., jury to find Libby guilty of obstruction of justice, perjury, and making false statements to federal investigators — not the supposed crimes for which he was originally targeted by the media. “Apparently, the very suspicion of improper behavior by high public servants once warranted vigorous legal inquiry — by supposedly independent and autonomous prosecutors. In the eight-plus years since the Libby trial, the Obama administration has blown up the law as we have known it for centuries. . .”

LEADS . . .

Michael Phillips & Gordon Lubold, WSJ: “Marines Wrestle Over Gender”

“. . . Of 337 Marine job categories, 22 remain closed to women, including infantry, light-armored reconnaissance and tanks.

“Faced with Mr. Panetta’s order, the Marines last year set up an all-volunteer unit with 295 men and 105 women who were randomly sorted into teams and run through months of electronically monitored tasks, from loading rounds into cannons to assaulting mock enemy positions.

“The intention was to test how gender integration affected the unit, more than the individual.

“The study found that in 93 of 134 tasks, all-male teams outperformed mixed-gender teams. In 39 tasks, there was no difference. In two tasks, the mixed-gender teams performed better.

“‘The brutal and extremely physical nature of direct ground combat, often marked by close, interpersonal violence, remains largely unchanged through centuries of warfare, despite technological advancements,’ the Marines said in a summary of the research findings. . .”

Michelle Malkin, NRO: “America’s Reckless Refuge for Jihad”

“On the anniversary week of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President Obama is rolling out the welcome mat to tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees. What could go wrong? There’s no need to hypothesize. Our nation remains utterly incapable of screening out legitimate dreamers from destroyers, liberty-seekers from liberty-stiflers. Indiscriminate asylum and refugee policies rob the truly deserving of an opportunity for freedom — and threaten our national security. It’s shameful that our leaders in Washington, sworn to uphold and defend our Constitution and our people, suffer chronic amnesia about the fatal consequences of open borders. I’ll keep reprinting my reminders. Maybe, someday, someone in a position of power will pay heed, throw political correctness out the window, and stop hitting the snooze button. . .”

Rudolf Giuliani, WSJ: “The Islamist Menace Shadowing This 9/11”

“A sensitive and appropriate 9/11 museum has now been built. A new tower has emerged as a great work of architecture adding to the world’s most-iconic skyline. Lower Manhattan, specifically the immediate vicinity of the World Trade Center, which many of us feared might be abandoned in the wake of these attacks and constant threats of future attacks, has more than doubled in population.

“It has gone far beyond the goals we set in 1994 when we secured passage of a law allowing the use of many of the older buildings and sites in the area for residential as well as office and commercial uses. All of this is a good sign that New Yorkers have not only met but exceeded the challenge I gave on the evening of Sept. 11, 2001: that New Yorkers should become stronger as a result of the attack.

“It would be a mistake, however, to conclude that 9/11 is now simply a part of the nation’s history, like Pearl Harbor. Because there is one big difference. The causes and hatreds that created 9/11 are still with us, and the terrorists have enlisted members who are even more diverse, cunning and determined. The Islamist terrorist war against us continues. This is not a matter of history but of current and future threats.

“Remember, this war against us did not start that September day in 2001. It had been going on for a long time. The plane hijackings and killing of innocent people by Islamist terrorists, and their murderous attack on the Israeli Olympic team in Munich, occurred in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In the late 1970s, Iran’s theocratic rulers began killing hundreds of thousands of their own people and took American hostages that the regime held for 444 days. In 1985, Leon Klinghoffer, an American citizen in a wheelchair, was shot and thrown into the Mediterranean from a cruise ship by Islamist terrorist hijackers merely because he was Jewish. They were acting on the orders of Palestine Liberation Organization leader Yasser Arafat, later a Nobel Peace Prize recipient (so much for the Nobel organization’s legitimacy).

“The same World Trade Center in New York was attacked by Islamist terrorists in 1993. The bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and the attack on the naval vessel the USS Cole, which in prior administrations would have been considered an act of war, all happened in the late 1990s.

“All of this should have suggested to America’s leadership that war was being waged against us. In case there was any uncertainty about the intentions of these people, Osama bin Laden clarified it by declaring war on us in the late 1990s. Instead of treating these incidents as part of a war, we treated them as discrete, individual crimes. All of these horrendous terrorist acts, and bin Laden’s declaration of war, shared one objective: destruction of the infidel. They were all undertaken in the name of an extremist interpretation of Muhammad’s call to jihad.

“But America was in denial.

“Now, once again, the terrorist attacks under the banner of jihad are increasing and diversifying. . .”

Neil Munro, Breitbart: “Two Out of Three Hispanics Oppose Immigration Increase”

“That’s good news for Donald Trump, who has made pro-American immigration reform the centerpiece of his campaign.

“It is bad news for Jeb Bush, who claims he can boost the one-in-four Hispanic support for the GOP by inviting more foreign blue-collar and college-graduates to compete for the jobs sought by American Hispanics.

“Only 34 percent of U.S.-born Hispanics, and 33 percent of foreign-born Hispanics, want to increase legal immigration, said the Gallup report.

“Sixty-four percent of each group of Hispanics want migration to be reduced or leveled, said Gallup, which released the report under a misleading headline, “U.S. Support for Increased Immigration Up to 25%. . .”

Adam Withnall, UK Independent: “Saudi Arabia offers Germany 200 mosques – one for every 100 refugees who arrived last weekend”

“Saudi Arabia has reportedly responded to the growing number of people fleeing the Middle East for western Europe – by offering to build 200 mosques in Germany.

“Syria’s richer Gulf neighbours have been accused of not doing their fair share in the humanitarian crisis, with Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the UAE also keeping their doors firmly shut to asylum-seekers.

“According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, which quoted a report in the Lebanese newspaper Al Diyar, Saudi Arabia would build one mosque for every 100 refugees who entered Germany in extraordinary numbers last weekend.

“It would be unfair to suggest that the Gulf Arab states have done nothing to help the estimated four million Syrians who have fled their country since the start of the conflict in 2011.

“Just this week, the al Hayat newspaper reported that 500,000 Syrians had found homes in Saudi Arabia since the civil war began – as workers, not refugees.

“There have also been significant contributions from rich individuals towards the upkeep of refugee camps round the Syrian border, estimated by the BBC to total around $900 million (£600 million).

“But amid a history of competition between the Gulf states and Iranian-allied nations, there is a deep fear that allowing an influx of Syrian refugees could also let in Syrians loyal to Bashar al-Assad.

“There also exists a more general concern about demographic change, leaving the states opposed to the idea of welcoming refugees. In the UAE, foreign nationals already outnumber citizens by more than five to one. . .”–one-for-every-100-refugees-who-arrived-last-weekend-10495082.html

Shane Harris & Nancy Youssef, The Daily Beast: “Exclusive: 50 Spies Say ISIS Intelligence Was Cooked”

“More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. military’s Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaeda’s branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.

“The complaints spurred the Pentagon’s inspector general to open an investigation into the alleged manipulation of intelligence. The fact that so many people complained suggests there are deep-rooted, systemic problems in how the U.S. military command charged with the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State assesses intelligence.

“‘The cancer was within the senior level of the intelligence command,’ one defense official said.

Two senior analysts at CENTCOM signed a written complaint sent to the Defense Department inspector general in July alleging that the reports, some of which were briefed to President Obama, portrayed the terror groups as weaker than the analysts believe they are. The reports were changed by CENTCOM higher-ups to adhere to the administration’s public line that the U.S. is winning the battle against ISIS and al Nusra, al Qaeda’s branch in Syria, the analysts claim . . .”.

Christina Marcos & Scott Wong, The Hill: “House GOP to postpone vote on Iran after member revolt”

“House Republican leaders are delaying a vote on the Iran nuclear deal scheduled for Wednesday because of a rebellion from rank-and-file conservatives.

The House was to hold a procedural vote to begin 11 hours of debate on a resolution disapproving the deal at 1 p.m. Instead, they will gather at 4 p.m. to discuss strategy.

“We will continue the conversation on Iran from this morning and discuss strategy for the rest of the week,” a GOP leadership aide said.

“The House subsequently went into recess shortly after noon once leadership called off the procedural vote.

“GOP leaders had to change course after hearing an earful from rank-and-file members during a morning conference meeting.

“Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus are demanding that the Obama administration send side deals between Iran and international nuclear inspectors to Congress as part of the Iran deal now under consideration. Opponents of the deal have argued that the clock on congressional consideration of the deal has not even begun until these side deals are submitted. . .”

Alexander Bolton, The Hill: “McConnell rejects Iran delay”

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is dismissing a House Republican Hail-Mary attempt to kill the Iran nuclear deal by postponing a vote on a disapproval resolution.

House conservatives want to delay the vote and argue that the 60-day congressional review period has not yet elapsed because the administration has yet to submit paperwork detailing “side deals” between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Tea-Party firebrand Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined the House GOP effort Wednesday by panning an upcoming Senate vote on the disapproval resolution as a “show vote” and putting pressure on McConnell to delay it.

But McConnell rejected the gambit in a press conference with reporters.

“As I understand law, once Sept. 17 passes is it not the case that the president will take the view that he is free to go forward,” to lift sanctions, he said.

Still, McConnell indicated Wednesday that a vote may not happen until next week as he and Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) continue to wrangle over a time agreement.

The conflicting strategies undermine McConnell’s messaging on the issue, which is focused on pressing Democrats to agree to an up-or-down vote on the Iran deal.

He has argued that it would be hypocritical for Democrats to block a final vote on the disapproval measure after voting overwhelmingly in May to pass legislation giving Congress review authority over the agreement. . .”

John Nolte, Big Govt: “O’KEEFE STRIKES AGAIN: Undercover Video Purports to Show Hillary Campaign Violating Election Law”

Thx Ted!

A [SIC!] undercover video published Thursday by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas purports to show Nevada-based Hillary Clinton campaign staffers and volunteers ignoring and knowingly violating Nevada’s voter registration laws. Moreover, the video appears to show that this conduct is being condoned and encouraged by a local attorney who works for the Clinton campaign.

“According to the video, it is a felony in the state of Nevada for anyone involved in the voter registration process to ‘solicit a vote for or against a particular question or candidate; speak to a voter on the subject of marking his or her ballot for or against a particular question or candidate.’

“The video appears to show that numerous Hillary Clinton campaign staffers are well aware of the law. Nevertheless, the video shows them laughing at the law and repeatedly brag about violating it by promoting Hillary Clinton verbally and with campaign literature as they attempt to register potential voters.

“The Project Veritas video further appears to show that the Clinton campaign staff solicits voter registration in close proximity to state offices, which may also violate Nevada law

“According to the video, when the attorney in question, identified as Christina Gupana, was told about this alleged lawbreaking she advised the staffers to, ‘Do whatever you can. Whatever you can get away with, just do it, until you get kicked out like totally.’

“More than one staffer says that the campaign’s motto towards these laws is ‘Ask for forgiveness, not for permission.’”

THE IRAN RALLY on 9/9. . .

I ran a scam . . . I wore my Valley Forge cap and screwed a very long lens onto my Nikon: Not one guard told me to move back from the front. And I got some good pictures of Jenny Beth, The Donald, Mark Levin, Ted Cruz, and Sarah. You remember Sarah, the firecracker who should have been our nominee seven years ago. (There is a time for old men like me to hang back and write checks.)

I also felt dizzy in the 94-degree heat but blamed my quad by-pass from 25 years ago: Bad hunch! I chugged a bottle of green tea (lots of wonderful stuff in my camera bag!) and no more dizziness. The dizziness, however, had its own benefit – I was adopted by a charming woman from central Michigan who has 10,000 subscribers and a husband who didn’t care if she looked after me.

Mark Levin was thirty minutes ahead of schedule and roamed without a guard through our crowd of more than 3000. He looks younger than he photographs and he’s not only a good speaker but also a generous one who strongly complimented Trump, Cruz, and Palin for their talks. I decided to buy his latest book. (And to complain to him about Obama’s making lots of money from my property – papers, transcripts, and tapes – that he and Val now steal from the White House. Bubba taught him and Hillary how to do it . . . Hillary ignored Monica in order to collect her own donors. She stayed with Bill, now she deserves a turn at being boss. BO, however, will make pikers of both Clintons when he finagles a UN job that puts him on big jets and fashionable golf courses while he lies to the impulsive, the demanders, and the schemers who think that he works not for himself but for them.)

A strategic error – predictions are that Iran will have a nuke and missiles in 12 years. Three months may be more accurate. Iran can take our $150 billion and shop on credit right now in Pakistan, China, or North Korea. And this gruesome scene follows a Cloward-Piven script – BO can make a crisis and get paid as a savior. (It’s been done already to Blacks with low expectations, bad teachers, bad health care, and bad police protection.)

Cruz – Articulate, forceful, and inspiring. America is now at war.

Sarah Palin, a great candidate even though she can’t pick up a six-hundred-pound dog sled that over-turned in an icy stream.

Jenny Beth – Easy to see her running the White House press core.

Trump –No gaffs, lots of spark. Tainted, perhaps damned, by his past endorsement of single-payer health systems and tariffs. A talisman – Tom Brady has a Trump cap in his locker. Both of these guys will do anything to win and Americans may be attracted to a line of dictators. Being “nice” only pays off tyrants. (Vlad, for example, keeps his power by showing off his troops, missiles, and bombers.)

Ben Carson – wasn’t present. Put him or Jindal in charge of HHS and see what can be done with the VA. . .

Had a dark beer and a plate of oysters at Union Station . . . then headed for home . . .

Leo Knepper, CAP: “Unions Spending Big Money on Supreme Court Races”

“Leading up to the May primaries we noted that organized labor had made significant contributions to the campaign of Judge Kevin Dougherty. (Note: Dougherty’s brother was just made the head of the Philadelphia Building Trades Council.) The spending did not stop after the primaries ended; it expanded. According to a Philadelphia Inquirer article, organized labor has now made over $1.3 million in direct contributions to candidates for the Supreme Court.

“Unions see the composition of the Supreme Court as being of critical importance in the near future:

‘For us right now, the Supreme Court is ground zero,’ said Joe Battaglia, treasurer of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1, representing about 3,000 workers in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.

“The article outlines how unions see the Supreme Court as a bulwark against any legislation that affects whether or not the government will act as a union collection agent for dues and political contributions. Supreme Court elections are generally sleepy affairs. However, this year’s elections will impact what ability the Legislature has to address issues like liquor store privatization and pension reform for decades.

“If the Supreme Court races have flown under your radar up until now, you had better start paying attention . . .”

Sy Snyder, PoliticsPA: 9/11 Ups & Downs

“Emails, endorsements and intraparty fights. See who made this week’s list!

Todd Stephens. Very quietly, the GOP primary for Attorney General is shaping up to be one of the most competitive and entertaining races of 2016. State Sen. John Rafferty is finally running but State Rep. Todd Stephens is proving so far to be a legitimate threat. On Thursday, he revealed the endorsements of Speaker Turzai and Majority Leader Reed. While the Democratic contest will undoubtedly get the most attention, don’t sleep on the Republican race.

Seth Williams. It seemed that the Philadelphia District Attorney had a bright political future ahead of him…until Friday. Just as millions were leaving for the Labor Day weekend, Williams quietly dropped a bombshell. Despite the long string of lewd and offensive emails that Frank Fina and Marc Costanzo took part in during their time in the AG’s office, they would not be fired from their current jobs with Williams. Additionally, the Philly DA waited until yesterday to take any questions yet still didn’t have satisfactory answers. It seems it all comes down to a personal feud between Williams/Fina & Co. and the Attorney General. This battle hasn’t made anyone look good and has sadly hurt Pennsylvanians faith in their government.

Katie McGinty. Over the weekend, the Democratic Senatorial candidate picked up the support of seemingly half of all Allegheny County. Among her endorsers was Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, Congressman Mike Doyle, PA Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa and House Democratic Leader Frank Dermody. Altogether, over sixty elected officials and Democratic party members are backing McGinty. She also finally got off the fence (which she was experiencing significant heat for) and announced her support for the Obama Administration’s nuclear deal with Iran. So far, McGinty has been able to maintain her momentum as she seeks to take the nomination from Joe Sestak.

Bill Shuster. Congressman Shuster dodged a major bullet when 2012 GOP Senate nominee and multimillionaire Tom Smith had to pass on next year’s primary. Now, however, Shuster’s 2014 opponent Art Halvorson is running in Smith’s place. With the financial backing of Smith (remember we live in the post-Citizens United age of Super PACs) and the dirt Politico has been digging up on the Congressman’s personal life, it could be a long few months for Rep. Shuster.

Shaughnessy Naughton. One of the main reasons Naughton narrowly lost the 2014 Democratic primary in PA-8 was because of lack of establishment support. Her opponent Kevin Strouse was a top DCCC recruit and vastly outraised her. This time, though, she received the early endorsement from the powerful women’s group EMILY’s List. They gave some half-hearted support last year but now they’re fully behind her in next year’s contest against State Rep. Steve Santarsiero.

Mark Levin (9/10/15)

“On Thursday’s Mark Levin Show: Our nation is more in peril today than it was yesterday and we can thank Sen. Mitch McConnell. The Senate has refused to take a vote on President Obama’s Iran nuclear deal and now it’s gone through. There’s no doubt McConnell cut a deal with Obama to pass his Iran agreement this way: he moved at breakneck speed to get it through the Senate. The objectives of politicians in Washington are not the objectives of the American people. The GOP establishment abuses its base time after time, and they’re too stupid to realize that we despise them. They don’t care about national security or upholding the Constitution, only about lining their pockets with money from lobbyists and special interest groups. Obama calls this a historic step forward to enabling the U.S to work with an international partner, saying it’s a victory for diplomacy and national security. Giving Iran access to nuclear warheads isn’t a victory for national security; it seals our fate and sows the seeds of war. Finally, Congressman Mark Meadows calls in to discuss his efforts to oust John Boehner from his role as Speaker.”

Oath Keepers, a national group with local chapters, will provide a speaker. We want to learn more about what they do, what their mission is, and get some insight into emergency preparation.  You may have heard that Oath Keepers were in Ferguson during the recent turmoil to support the local police.

We are pleased to announce we have two speakers from Oath Keepers at our meeting.

Bob Frank (Served 4 yrs in USMC, rank of Sgt, Vietnam vet (1969). Current resident of Upr Bucks.) & James J del RIO Sr. (An E-6 (TSgt) in the United States Air Force Reserve, Combat Veteran of 4 wars with 16 years of service completed serving as a C-130 Flight Engineer in Iraq and Afghanistan. I currently work in the Parts Department at Thompson Lexus in Doylestown.)

VFP will also be doing another post card blitz to oppose the Iran Deal.  We will provide post cards, stamps and talking points.  The cards you write will be sent to key targets to lobby against the bad “Deal” where Iran gets billions from the U.S., dropped sanctions, unknown side deals and they get to keep their centrifuges. Even Chuck Schumer is against it.

PLEASE NOTE– VFP along with Faith & Freedom Coalition Penna. Chapter, and perhaps other local groups, will hold a  prayer rally on September 12,  the day after our monthly meeting on 9-11. Speakers (Sam Rohrer will be a guest speaker ) and members will be praying for our Country and for our leaders to bring us back to the foundational principles of our founding.  Please spread the word through your churches, friends, and organizations.  PLEASE, PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND!

As you can see, we are starting off our new season with a “bang”.  We want and need your help and participation to make things work.
