You’ll find that its diverse cast is governed by an unseen code: Live by conservatism, die by liberalism, and the only way you give up your Smith & Wesson is if someone pries it from your rotting, zombified hand.” David French

US House of Representatives,

Boehner’s imminent removal is just the beginning, now senior and influential GOP party leaders in some states are trying to remove more of these gutless RINO cowards from the GOP.  Don’t try to sneak a RINO back in the Speaker of the House leadership position!

If the GOP Speaker of the House nominee is a strong conservative candidate willing to uphold and defend the constitution then ‘we the people’ will be on-board in force.  Just a ‘hint’, Rep McCarthy is not an acceptable nominee…he is simply extension of the Boehner “establishment”.

Just remember, ‘insanity is committing the same mistake over and over and continuing to expect a different result’

Rich Lowry & Ramesh Ponnuru, NRO: “Trump Wrongs the Right”

By the normal rules of American public life, his campaign announcement, with its careless implication of widespread criminality among Mexican immigrants, would have been the end of him, or at least ended in his shame-faced retreat. We all know how it goes: A social-media campaign. An outraged press corps. Boycotts, or threats of them. Then the target inevitably gives in. We’d seen the dynamic play out in the months prior to Trump’s announcement, when the State of Indiana quickly buckled to a pressure campaign over its Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and, less significantly, when a British scientist who wore a shirt that feminists deemed offensive apologized, and groveled, and cried.

“Trump is an enormous rude gesture directed at this PC norm in American life. When he didn’t back down but doubled down, when he didn’t quail in the face of Univision’s dropping his beauty pageant but sued the network for $500 million, Republicans wanted to stand and cheer. It wasn’t just the spiritedness of it, it was the feeling that Trump’s steadfastness in the face of the onslaught meant that the Left’s cultural power was a little less sweeping than had been thought. . .”

Adam Kredo, Free Beacon: “Iran: Missiles Pointed at U.S. Targets”

“Iran, Russia, Syria, Iraq form joint war room

“A senior Iranian military leader warned this weekend that “all U.S. military bases in the Middle East are within the range of” Iran’s missiles and emphasized that the Islamic Republic will continue to break international bans on the construction of ballistic missiles.

“Much of this missile work, like the details of Iran’s advanced arsenal, remains secret, according to Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force.

“Hajizadeh dismissed the threat of military action by the United States, warning that all U.S. assets and allies are in range of Iran’s current missile arsenal, according to comments made Sunday in Tehran and recorded by Iran’s state-controlled Fars News Agency.

“The threats of attack on the United States were issued as Iran unveiled new high-tech torpedoes and the formation of a joint war room along with Russia, Syria, and Iraq. . .”

David Nakamura, WaPo: “Deal reached on Pacific Rim trade pact in boost for Obama economic agenda”

“ATLANTA — The United States, Japan and 10 other Pacific Rim nations reached agreement Monday on the largest free-trade accord in a generation, an ambitious effort led by the Obama administration to knit together economies across a vast region.

“The deal capped more than five years of arduous negotiations on a project central to President Obama’s economic agenda and potentially hand him a legacy-defining victory late in his presidency.

“U.S. Trade Representative Michael B. Froman described the pact as ‘historic agreement’ that addresses economic and international trade ‘challenges faced in the 21st century.’

“The deal “helps define the rules of the road for the Asian-Pacific region” for decades ahead, he told journalists.

“Negotiators spent a feverish week of talks to find consensus on terms for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). On Sunday, plans to publicly announce a deal were delayed several times as the parties wrangled over the technical details related to market access for dairy products and new-generation biologic medicines.

“‘We achieved something that some people thought was unachievable,’ said Canada’s envoy in the talks, Trade Minister Ed Fast.

““Those are just two sections of a sprawling, multiple-chapter pact that addresses tariff reductions for agriculture and automobiles as well as intellectual-property rights for pharmaceutical drugs and movies, the free flow of information on the Internet, wildlife conservation, online commerce and dispute settlements for multinational corporations. . .”

Paul Singer & Fredreka Shouten, USA Today: “Chaffetz joins speaker race, saying McCarthy doesn’t have the votes”

Chafetz and McCarthy share a conflict of interest between running the House and serving the people who elected them . . .

“WASHINGTON —  Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, announced Sunday that he is running for speaker of the House, complicating the path for Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who was expected to succeed Speaker John Bohener.

“Boehner, of Ohio, is stepping down at the end of the month.

“Chaffetz, who chairs the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee, said on Fox News Sunday that he does not believe McCarthy can get the 218 votes he needs to be elected speaker because “nearly 50 people and a growing number” in the GOP caucus will not support him. “There is really a math problem” for McCarthy, Chaffetz said.

“Chaffetz said he is being recruited from within the party to run. McCarthy is viewed as the current favorite of the Republican caucus, which will vote in a closed-door meeting Thursday. Chaffetz said McCarthy could falter later this month when the full House votes on the speaker.

“Chaffetz described himself as well-positioned to ‘bridge the divide’ between the establishment and conservative factions of the Republicans in the House.

“‘I think the American public wants to see a change,’ he said. ‘They want a fresh start.’

“Granting an “automatic promotion to the existing leadership team … doesn’t signal change,” he added. . .”

Chrisann Brennan, UK Mail: “The new Steve Jobs biopic is a travesty, says his ex. Cold? Ruthless? Obsessive? No, he was FAR worse than that. He denied he was the father of our child and was…ROTTEN TO THE CORE”

  • Chrisann Brennan, played in the film by Katherine Waterstone, said Jobs – who died in 2011 – became a threatening monster in real life
  • High school sweetheart lived with Jobs and was an early Apple employee
  • But their relationship fell apart amid wild recriminations when she became pregnant with his first child
  • He denied he was the father, despite a positive paternity test
  • He paid a pittance in child support, while living the life of a millionaire

Jonah Goldberg, NRO: “Hillary’s Server Is the Smoking Gun!”

“. . . what fascinates me is not the way Hillary lies constantly and with all the skill of John Candy on the parallel bars, but the way the Beltway establishment — led by her friends — is constantly looking for reasons not to see what is plainly in front of them.

“Take the constant refrain that each e-mail tranche contains “no smoking guns.” The other night on the Special Report online show I ranted about it with just a fraction of the energy stored in my splenetic-dilithium crystals, and Charles Krauthammer offered to write me a prescription for valium. I could go on all day about the layers of lies upon lies here.

  • For instance: There are plenty of smoking guns in every e-mail dump. The number of classified e-mails is now in the hundreds.
  • Hillary Clinton insisted in her first statement that she never sent or received any classified information. She knew this was a lie when she said it. Those were extremely prepared remarks. She only revised that to “marked” classified when the lie didn’t take.
  • The “marked classified” thing is a lie on the merits and in intent. Some e-mails were marked classified and it doesn’t matter if they were marked classified. The information was classified regardless of marking. She knew this.

–          She constantly says her system was allowed but never says who allowed it . . . because the person who allowed it was Hillary Clinton. She might as well have hung a banner over her desk that read, “Le département d’État, c’est moi!” (If one of you francophone pedants corrects my French here, I will drive out to your house and leave a burning bag of epoisses on your doorstep).

“But all this misses the point. I’m not normally an ALL CAPS kind of guy. So please forgive me for this: BUT THE SERVER IS THE SMOKING GUN!

Jim Geraghty, NRO: “Rest Easy, America. Hillary’s Unveiling a Gun Control Plan”

“From the first Morning Jolt of the week, news that NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds Hillary losing Iowa and New Hampshire to Jeb Bush, Donald Trump, and Carly Fiorina… and today she unveils something that probably won’t help her in those states:

“But imagine how Hillary’s numbers will soar when she loudly embraces gun control! Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton is set to unveil a sweeping gun control proposal Monday that would include closing the “gun show loophole” and allowing victims of gun violence to sue firearm manufacturers. . .”

Edward Klein, NY Post: “Hillary Clinton’s legal adviser warns her — Time to lawyer up

“One of the Clintons’ oldest and most trusted legal advisers has urged Hillary to hire a criminal defense attorney to represent her in case she’s indicted for mishandling classified documents on her private e-mail server and for lying under oath.

“The adviser, who has been a Clinton confidant for more than 30 years, laid out his concerns about Hillary’s legal exposure in a wide-ranging interview.

“‘This e-mail thing is spiraling out of control,’ he said. ‘To paraphrase John Dean of Watergate fame, it’s a cancer on her candidacy.

“‘Frankly,’ he continued, ‘I am used to my advice on legal matters being taken very seriously and acted upon by the Clintons. I’ve told them repeatedly that this FBI e-mail investigation could go in a very dangerous direction very quickly.

“‘I think Bill takes the matter seriously. But Hillary is still acting as though it’s a political smear job by right-wing zealots.’ . . ”

Paul Goldman & Mark Rozell, Politico: “Illegal Immigrants Could Elect Hillary”

“How noncitizens decrease Republican chances of winning the White House next year.

“Illegal immigrants—along with other noncitizens without the right to vote—may pick the 2016 presidential winner. Thanks to the unique math undergirding the Electoral College, the mere presence of 11-12 million illegal immigrants and other noncitizens here legally may enable them to swing the election from Republicans to Democrats.

“The right to vote is intended to be a singular privilege of citizenship. But the 1787 Constitutional Convention rejected allowing the people to directly elect their President. The delegates chose instead our Electoral College system, under which 538 electoral votes distributed amongst the states determine the presidential victor. The Electoral College awards one elector for each U.S. Senator, thus 100 of the total, and D.C. gets three electors pursuant to the 23rd Amendment. Those electoral numbers are unaffected by the size of the noncitizen population. The same cannot be said for the remaining 435, more than 80 percent of the total, which represent the members elected to the House.

“The distribution of these 435 seats is not static: they are reapportioned every ten years to reflect the population changes found in the census. That reallocation math is based on the relative “whole number of persons in each state,” as the formulation in the 14th Amendment has it. When this language was inserted into the U.S. Constitution, the concept of an “illegal immigrant,” as the term is defined today, had no meaning. Thus the census counts illegal immigrants and other noncitizens equally with citizens. Since the census is used to determine the number of House seats apportioned to each state, those states with large populations of illegal immigrants and other noncitizens gain extra seats in the House at the expense of states with fewer such “whole number of persons.”

“This math gives strongly Democratic states an unfair edge in the Electoral College. . .”

END NOTE . . .

David French, NRO: “In the Zombie World, Only the Conservative Survive”

“. . . make no mistake, the end is coming. The show begins in an atmosphere of dread. Helicopters constantly hover overhead. Sirens are omnipresent. One gets the feeling that something is happening, but the public is largely oblivious. The first zombies pop up in heroin shooting galleries, and when police are filmed gunning down an undead aggressor — filling it full of holes until the final, fatal “kill shot” to the head — the public assumes it’s an act of brutality, not self-defense. No one believes the impossible (as no one would), so characters do incandescently stupid things, like investigating abandoned churches in the middle of the night, armed only with a flashlight.

“But they’ll wake up to the terrifying reality soon enough — and that’s when the genre’s inherent conservatism kicks in. In fact, zombie fiction may be the most conservative fiction of all, drawing its dramatic energy from three principles every good Republican should understand: The government is incompetent and prone to collapse under pressure; the person who survives is the person who either knows how to shoot or learns quickly; and even when cities are overrun with undead, a living man is still the most dangerous animal of all. If government is — to borrow Barney Frank’s memorable definition — the ‘name we give to the things we choose to do together,’ then in zombie fiction like TWD, the things everyone chooses to do together include panicking, lying, and displaying breathtaking incompetence. . .”
