“There have always been primary fights and rivalries, but the fights within the Democrats and Republicans this cycle are as intense as the partisan divisions were in past ones. More important, they’re not just about personality or style. Within the parties, primary voters are choosing among extremely different visions and policy ideas. Chunks of each party are looking at their traditional allies and asking just what interests and ideas they really have in common any more.” Jim Geraghy http://www.nationalreview.com/article/432514/republican-democratic-parties-both-are-breaking

Jordan Shachtel, Big Govt: “National Poll: Donald Trump Remains Frontrunner, Would Lose Big Head-To Head with Ted Cruz”

“An ABC News/Washington Post poll shows Donald Trump leading the race to become the Republican nominee for President of the United States. However, if the field were to consolidate, the billionaire businessman would no longer be favored in a head-to-head situation, according to the survey.

“The real estate mogul leads with 34 percent support nationally, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

with 25 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)

at 18 percent, and John Kasich rounding out the field with 13 percent, the poll results say.

“Trump’s support has essentially remained unchanged for months,” the report released with the poll said.

“Both Cruz and Rubio defeat Trump in a hypothetical head-to-head scenario.

“Cruz easily defeats Trump head-to-head 54-41 percent. non-Cruz or Trump supporters prefer Cruz to Trump 72-17 percent.

“Among ‘very conservative voters,’ Cruz takes down Trump 60-34 percent. Among white evangelicals, Cruz handles Trump 64-31 percent. . .”

David Drucker, Washington Examiner: “Trump picks up three big wins, but Ted Cruz snags victory in Idaho”

“Donald Trump notched three more key victories Tuesday, taking Michigan, Mississippi and Hawaii to maintain his position as the clear front-runner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

“In Mississippi, Trump won 47 percent of the vote to Ted Cruz’s 36 percent. In Michigan, Trump won 36.5 percent, and Cruz was in second again with 25.1 percent. And in Hawaii, Trump beat Cruz again, 42.4 to 32.7. Marco Rubio came in a disappointing fourth, fourth and third in those states.

“But Cruz remained in the hunt for the GOP nod. He picked up delegates with a strong victory in Idaho over Trump, a state he won with 45.4 percent to Trump’s 28 percent. That win helped add to his case that he is best positioned to block the New York celebrity businessman from the nomination. . .”

UK Guardian: “FBI quietly changes its privacy rules for accessing NSA data on Americans”

Exclusive: Classified revisions accepted by secret Fisa court affect NSA data involving Americans’ international emails, texts and phone calls

“The FBI has quietly revised its privacy rules for searching data involving Americans’ international communications that was collected by the National Security Agency, US officials have confirmed to the Guardian.

“The classified revisions were accepted by the secret US court that governs surveillance, during its annual recertification of the agencies’ broad surveillance powers. The new rules affect a set of powers colloquially known as Section 702, the portion of the law that authorizes the NSA’s sweeping “Prism” program to collect internet data. Section 702 falls under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (Fisa), and is a provision set to expire later this year.

“A government civil liberties watchdog, the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Group (PCLOB), alluded to the change in its recent overview of ongoing surveillance practices.

“The watchdog confirmed in a 2014 report that the FBI is allowed direct access to the NSA’s massive collections of international emails, texts and phone calls – which often include Americans on one end of the conversation. The activists also expressed concern that the FBI’s “minimization” rules, for removing or limiting sensitive data that could identify Americans, did not reflect the bureau’s easy access to the NSA’s collected international communications. . .”

Amir Vahdat, Yahoo!: “Iran fires 2 missiles marked with ‘Israel must be wiped out’”

“TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran test-fired two ballistic missiles Wednesday with the phrase “Israel must be wiped out” written in Hebrew on them, a show of force by the Islamic Republic as U.S. Vice President Joe Biden visited Israel.

“Such phrases have been emblazoned on Iranian missiles before, but this test comes shortly after the implementation of a nuclear deal with world powers, including the U.S., and follows similar drills in recent days.

“Hard-liners in Iran’s military have fired rockets and missiles despite U.S. objections since the deal, as well as shown underground missile bases on state television.

“There was no immediate reaction from Jerusalem, where Biden was meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who strongly opposed the nuclear deal.

“Biden, speaking next to Netanyahu, did not acknowledge the missile launch directly but he issued a strong warning to the Iranians. . .”

Rudy Takala, Washington Examiner: “Senator: Record number of unaccompanied minors set to flood southern border”

“Homeland Security officials are on track to apprehend a record number of unaccompanied minors trying to enter the U.S. from Mexico, the Senate Homeland Security chairman suggested on Tuesday.

“From the beginning of the fiscal year, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson told the committee, officials have apprehended 23,533 unaccompanied minors trying to cross the border.

“‘I think we’re possibly beyond crisis proportions here,’ said Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis. ‘Four months and we’re up to 23,000 already… 2014 was a crisis, right now I think we’re running ahead of 2014 levels,’ Johnson added. . .”

Pamela Geller, PamelaGeller.com: “Scared Sweden: Almost Half Of Women ‘Afraid’ To Be Out After Dark In Europe’s Rape Capital”

Thx Ted!

“They’re scared because of the Muslim invaders. And yet instead of doing anything to stop the invaders, Sweden (and Europe in general) are just bringing in more of them. Europe is committing suicide before our eyes.

“Almost every Swedish woman feels very or somewhat unsafe when they exercise alone in the dark”, finds new research by the Aftonbladet newspaper in the wake of the migrant rape crisis.

Combining a wide-ranging study of attitudes of women towards being outside in the evening on their own and personal interviews, the findings show that the statement of 34-year-old Ellinor Andersson that she carried a bunch of keys in her hand at night, ready to strike out, are quite normal. . .”

HILLARY . . .

Stephen Kruiser, PJM: “Sanders Overcomes 21-Point Polling Deficit to Win Michigan”

Welcome to the utter unpredictability of 2016.

“Senator Bernie Sanders scored an upset win in the Michigan Democratic primary, according to the Associated Press, threatening to prolong a Democratic campaign that Hillary Clinton appeared to have all but locked up last week.

“While strengthening Mr. Sanders’s hand as the race turns to a series of large states next week, his victory in Michigan did not drastically alter Mrs. Clinton’s delegate lead, as she won overwhelmingly in Mississippi, crushing Mr. Sanders among African-American voters. . .”

Andrew McCarthy, PJM: “Clinton’s Laughable Claim: Petraeus Offense Was Worse”

“Last week’s Washington Post bombshell, the news that the Justice Department has given immunity from prosecution to the former State Department staffer who maintained Hillary Clinton’s “homebrew” email server, is forcing Mrs. Clinton and her apologists to alter their media strategy.

“For months it has been obvious that a serious criminal investigation of the former secretary of State’s reckless mishandling of classified information has been underway. Yet Camp Clinton has maintained that the government is merely engaged in a “security inquiry” that is focused on the physical server itself — not a probe of criminal suspects. This has never made sense. The FBI, which has assigned many agents to the case, is in the criminal investigation business.

“Plus, when the now-immunized former staffer, Bryan Pagliano, invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege in refusing to testify before the House Benghazi committee, it signaled that he feared truthful answers would incriminate him.

“Now with Pagliano apparently poised to cooperate with the FBI, the claim that Mrs. Clinton is not a criminal suspect is untenable. So Clinton and her supporters are changing tack: instead of implausibly insisting there is no crime to investigate, they argue that there is no crime worth prosecuting. . .”

Investors: “Email Scandal: Hillary Clinton’s Last Defense Just Blew Up”

“National Security: The Washington Post, of all places, found that not only did Hillary Clinton send and receive classified material on her unsecured email server as Secretary of State, she wrote dozens of classified emails herself.

“To understand the implications of this revelation, let’s rewind the clock to almost exactly one year ago, when Clinton first addressed her private email controversy at a press conference held in the United Nations building.

“A reporter asked Clinton whether she was ‘ever specifically briefed on the security implications of using your own email server and using your personal address to email with the president?’

“Her answer was emphatic: ‘I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email. There is no classified material.’

“Then she went on: ‘I’m certainly well aware of the classification requirements and did not send classified material.’

“The first claim had been proved false long ago, once the State Department started releasing what would end up being 2,093 of Clinton’s emails that it said contained classified material.

“Once those emails started emerging, Clinton changed her story to say that she never “knowingly” sent or received classified information, because none of the messages were so marked. That excuse fell by the wayside when emails turned up containing information deemed ‘classified at birth.’ Then several showed up that couldn’t be released at all because their classification rating was so high.

The Post’s latest revelations, however, are particularly damning. It found that three-quarters of the classified emails she sent were written by Clinton herself.

“Saying she didn’t know the information was classified because it wasn’t marked makes no sense, since she was the one who would have been responsible for marking it in the first place.

“And, since she claims that she was ‘well aware of the classification requirements,’ she can’t now claim that she was ignorant of the nature of the information she was sending. . .”

James Brody: School Taxes – The Scam

http://www.teapartynation.com/profiles/blogs/school-taxes-the-scam

Economist, Gregory Clark convinces us with 500 years of data from nine or ten countries, that the economic and cultural success of children is 70+ percent that of their parents. True in Britain, Sweden, and, despite Mao’s slaughter of intellectuals and drug addicts, China where the revolution did not change the names of ruling families. And Sweden’s roster of social programs has achieved a population without complaints or prosperity.

The American, despite information, still chooses social learning as a remedy for the inattentive, the impulsive, the negligent, and the violent. My radio pleads “Read to a child,” “Adopt a child” in order to salvage a life. Meanwhile, the older, the whiter, the brighter, the richer have few children and escalating suicide rates.

But even in changing times, jobs and pensions must be protected for teachers and their union bosses.

My local district has charged me thousands every year as my share of the costs for the local high school. It serves affluent neighborhoods, few blacks or Spanish, and provides a full roster of clubs, bands, theater groups, and teams.

The students achieve the successes of their parents and, according to Clark’s findings, would do so even with marginal teachers and without football, the pool, or clubs. It follows that the students would have the same successes even if their teachers were paid less and had larger class sizes! It should even be possible to recruit talented faculty for less money because they will have access to brighter, better behaved students. Or to offer a larger menu of internet courses and even collapse the school into a University of Arizona annex.

Some parents home school their children or use private schools. Other parents confuse size with excellence.

They also confuse achievement with spending money on their offspring and expect all of us to help them do it. They are “entitled”. . .
