Janet: Independence Day March, July 4th

Our secession from Great Britain will be honored this year with George Washington crossing the Delaware River in a boat, in tow, while our professional singer is aboard entertaining with Patriotic songs. We plan to have Revolutionary soldiers in costume, and the original 13 colony flags. Events that have happened over the recent years will be memorialized to raise awareness to the crowd. Feel free to uphold your God-given and 2nd Amendment right.

Bring your different American flags. Dress in Colonial garb. Wear your red, white, and blue.

Bring large and easily read posters. Bring banners (we need attendees to hold quite a few that we have). Bring your family. We need proud Americans to throw out 50 pounds of candy, and literature pertaining to our organization.

Afterwards, for whoever cares to gather on the outside patio in the center of the village at Basta Pasta, 4052 Skippack Pike, will have themselves a lot of fun with the dozens who join

us for great food, drink, and conversation!

Plan to join us at 10a.m. at the Skippack Fire Company, 1230 Bridge Road

(right off of Rt 73/Skippack Pike) to plan our lineup. The parade begins at 11,

and lasts approximately one hour. Jane Taylor Toal, CEO Citizens for Liberty, PO Box 782, Oaks, PA, 194546; Telephone: 484-424-3619

“. . .Brigitte Bardot. The mid-20th-century French sexpot and national icon has been convicted six times in recent years for “inciting hatred.” Her crime? Bardo has written angry books and articles about what she refers to as an “Islamic invasion” that imperils the French way of life. . . Caroline Glick

Obama gains – he makes himself a necessity after the election, one who protects us from Islam . . . Hillary will remain his assistant . . .Remember also that Pulse was another gun-free zone . . .Consider further that some Americans have disliked homosexuals for twenty years and may wish good luck to the Jihadists . . .

Matt Hunter et al., UK Daily Mail: “ISIS claims responsibility for America’s most deadly mass shooting: Terror group, 29, celebrates their New York-born ‘fighter’ Omar Mateen who died in Orlando gay club after killing 50

  • US citizen Omar Mateen, 29, opened fire inside Pulse gay club in Orlando in the early hours of Sunday morning
  • Mateen, from Port St. Lucie in Florida, killed at least 50 people, injured 53 and took party-goers hostage
  • Police used an explosive device to distract the gunman and rescued around 30 people who had been taken hostage
  • Officers engaged in gunfire with the man and an officer was shot in the head, but he was saved by his helmet
  • Mateen was shot dead by officers shortly after 5am – three hours after the massacre began
  • Mateen had an associates degree in criminal justice and worked as a security guard with a company called G4S

Andrew McCarthy, NRO: Killing Homosexuals Is Not ISIS Law, It Is Muslim Law”

“. . .There are various ways to interpret Islamic scripture in order to attempt to evolve it out of violence. This, of course, does not change the fact that supremacist, fundamentalist Islam is a legitimate, mainstream, virulently anti-Western interpretation of Islam; but it does at least mean that there can be other mainstream versions of Islam that reject violence and Islam’s politico-legal system.

“Sharia, on the other hand, is basically set in stone. (Or should I say “stoning”?) Even most Islamic reformers acknowledge that it badly needs reform — not that it can be reinterpreted, but that it needs to be changed. Its provisions and especially its draconian punishments were largely fixed a millennium ago. “The mandate that homosexuals be killed is not from ISIS or al-Qaeda. It is from sharia — which draws on Muslim scripture. . .”

“As I’ve observed several times, an English version of the classic sharia manual Reliance of the Traveller has been endorsed by scholars of al-Azhar University, the seat of Sunni Islamic learning since the tenth century; by the International Institute of Islamic Thought, a Muslim Brotherhood think tank that is influential in Washington; and by other influential Islamic governments and commentators. Here is its teaching on homosexuality, found in the chapter on “Enormities” — the most grave offenses:

Sec. p17.0: SODOMY AND LESBIANISM Sec. p17.1: In more than one place in the Holy Koran, Allah recounts to us the story of Lot’s people, and how He destroyed them for their wicked practice. There is consensus among both Muslims and the followers of all other religions that sodomy is an enormity. It is even viler and uglier than adultery [AM: which is punished brutally, including by death]. Sec. p17.2: Allah Most High says: “Do you approach the males of humanity, leaving the wives Allah has created for you? But you are a people who transgress” (Koran 26:165-66). Sec. p17.3: The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “Kill the one who sodomizes and the one who lets it be done to him.” “May Allah curse him who does what Lot’s people did.” “Lesbianism by women is adultery between them.”

David French, NRO: “The Orlando Horror Shows Once Again Why Jihadists Must Be Crushed”

“. . . Consider what’s happened in the United States and abroad since ISIS launched its blitzkrieg in 2014. It didn’t just gain a small nation’s worth of territory, population, and resources, it also inspired jihadists the world over. In America, we’ve confronted actual or attempted jihadist mass shootings in Chattanooga, Garland (Texas), San Bernardino, and now Orlando. This list doesn’t include less deadly individual Islamist attacks like we’ve seen at the University of California, Merced, and in the attempted police officer assassination in Philadelphia. Overseas, the toll has been even worse. With Paris and Brussels wracked with violence, a Russian jetliner bombed out of the sky, Turkey and Beirut bombed, and with ISIS-inspired violence reaching all the way to Australia, jihad has spread like a deadly virus. “This is what happens when the world gives jihad oxygen. It thrives on carnage, and each new attack is seen as a glorious victory for the cause. But when we inflict the carnage, jihad tends to retreat. Americans have an exactly opposite understanding of the role of death in the jihadist project. We think that our military success merely creates more martyrs. This is wrong. Jihadists love their own deaths when it is in a victorious cause, not when they are pulverized and defeated by superior forces. “So long as they have hope and can create the impression of momentum and success, recruits will flow. When they flee the battlefield, and their black flags burn, the cause craters. “We know this because we’ve done it before. We’ve seen it happen with our own eyes. By the close of the Surge in Iraq, the enemy was spent — demoralized and on the run. Recruits weren’t flowing in, suicide bombers were more difficult to recruit, and a shattered nation began to return to its own version of normal. Our own country enjoyed a period of relative peace.

“To be clear, the jihadist impulse in Islam waxes and wanes. It never entirely disappears — which is exactly why a nation cannot ever relax its vigilance and give jihad room to grow. . .”

Julia Hahn, Breitbart: “Afghanistan Migration Surging into America; 99% Support Sharia Law”

“Between 2001 and 2013, the U.S. permanently resettled nearly 30,000 Afghan migrants on green cards. According to Pew, nearly all Muslims in Afghanistan (99%) support sharia law as official law.

“As legal immigrants, these migrants will be granted lifetime resettlement privileges will be given automatic work permits, welfare access, and the ability to become voting citizens.

“Between 2001 and 2013, the United States permanently resettled 1.5 million Muslim immigrants throughout the United States.

“In the next five years, without changes to our autopilot visa dispensations, the U.S. will permanently resettle a Muslim population larger than the entire population of Washington D.C.

Drudge Links, 6/12&13/16:

LEADS . . .

Carolyn Glick, JPost: “Israel rises in the East”

“The failure of France’s “peace” conference, on the one hand, and the success of Netanyahu’s fourth visit to Moscow on the other hand, were poetic bookends of the week.

“. . . Fifteen years after the Dura blood libel, Muslims now comprise at least 15% of France’s population, and 40% of the population of Marseilles. “And today, the same extremists who have terrorized France’s Jews for a decade and a half, have turned their guns on French society as a whole. . .”

Last year’s Islamic killing spree, from Charlie Hebdo and Super Cacher to Bataclan made clear that as far as the jihadists are concerned, the French Jew-baiters are no different than the Jews. “. . .Even worse, with their hatred legitimized by the Jew-baiters, France’s jihadists feel they have license to direct their rage and guns in whatever direction they choose.”

“. . . The Washington Post’s editorial board joined him in this delusion. In an editorial published in the lead-up to his conference, the newspaper argued that the anti-Israel conference should serve as the opening salvo of an escalating diplomatic war against the Jewish state. The culmination of that war, the paper said, should be an anti-Israel resolution at the UN Security Council in the final days of Barack Obama’s presidency. “But if this is what the West’s renewed war against Israel looks like, then Israel has little reason for concern.”

“Europe and the American Left have seized on Palestinian grievances against Israel as proof that the solution to jihad is anti-Semitism. They have made Israel-bashing the centerpiece of their foreign policy. “In contrast, under Putin, Russia has chosen to base its foreign policy – and its bid to replace the US as the chief power broker in the Middle East – on reality. “As a result, during his meetings with Netanyahu, the Palestinians were given the attention that they deserve, as a minor nuisance. “After paying lip service to the mordant “peace process,” Putin and Netanyahu got down to business. They discussed everything from Iran’s rise in Syria to Israel’s gas industry to free trade to the approaching rapprochement between Israel and Turkey. “The distinction between the business of real statecraft for a real world as practiced by Netanyahu and Putin, and the imaginary statecraft practiced by the French and their guests, is jarring. . .”

“In the twilight of the Obama era, the US is steeped in an identity crisis. The Democratic Party has been radicalized. The Republican Party is in disarray as the forces of populism and prejudice have been unleashed by Donald Trump’s unforeseen rise. Under the circumstances, and given that the disastrous legacy of Obama’s foreign policy, it is hard to see the US restoring its global leadership in the near future. “Given the intensity of Netanyahu’s discussions with Putin since the Russian leader deployed his military forces to Syria last year, many wonder if a major realignment is in the cards for Israel. “When asked about the prospect of replacing the US with Russia as Israel’s superpower patron, Netanyahu rejected the notion. He explained simply that the US is irreplaceable. “He is right. And not merely because Russia cannot supply spare parts to Israel’s F-16s. “Unlike Britain, which was seamlessly replaced by the US as the leader of the free world in the aftermath of World War II, the US has no clear successor. . .”

Andrew Grice, UK Independent, “EU Referendum: Massive swing to Brexit – with just 12 days to go”

“Exclusive: polling carried out for ‘The Independent’ shows that 55 per cent of UK voters intend to vote for Britain to leave the EU in the 23 June referendum

The campaign to take Britain out of the EU has opened up a remarkable 10-point lead over the Remain camp, according to an exclusive poll for The Independent.

“The survey of 2,000 people by ORB found that 55 per cent believe the UK should leave the EU (up four points since our last poll in April), while 45 per cent want it to remain (down four points). These figures are weighted to take account of people’s likelihood to vote. It is by far the biggest lead the Leave camp has enjoyed since ORB began polling the EU issue for The Independent a year ago, when it was Remain who enjoyed a 10-point lead. Now the tables have turned.

“Even when the findings are not weighted for turnout, Leave is on 53 per cent (up three points since April) and Remain on 47 per cent (down three). The online poll, taken on Wednesday and Thursday, suggests the Out camp has achieved momentum at the critical time ahead of the 23 June referendum. . .”

Jonah Goldberg, NRO: “The Forced Media Celebration”

“Dear Reader (especially early Boris Johnson, in case he feels inclined to make my skull explode), I am sitting here on the Acela barreling towards Washington, D.C. “‘Barreling’ is a generous term for the relatively plodding pace we’re taking. But I’m in a generous mood. And, frankly, who isn’t? Why, the people on this train are celebrating like joyous Bolsheviks moments after seizing the Winter Palace or after Bernie Sanders won the Michigan primary. “Everyone is grinning like Bill Clinton after the Secret Service gives the ‘all clear’ for the strippers to come out from their hiding places underneath the bed and behind the window curtains. ‘Pantsuit One has left the building, sir.’ “It’s all hugs, smiles, backslapping, and joy for as far as the eye can see. As I look out the window, I can see people skipping and dancing to the tune of “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” as played out of their own butts. “Obviously, I’m referring to the wonder and glee that comes from living in an age when a woman can finally be the presidential nominee of a major political party. “Why, I wouldn’t be surprised if no one at all was reading this ‘news’ letter (‘That’s always been my expectation’ — The Couch). I mean, why should I bother when every street corner and crack-vial-strewn alleyway is now as majestic and glorious as that alpine slope where Julie Andrews sings about how the hills are alive with the sound of music? . . .”

Debra Heine, PJM: “Uh-Oh: Newly Released Email Was Marked Classified When It Hit Clinton’s Server”

“Hillary Clinton has claimed from the very beginning of the email scandal that nothing she sent or received was marked classified at the time. As recently as Wednesday of this week, she told Fox News’ Bret Baier, ‘nothing that I sent or received was marked classified. And nothing has been demonstrated to contradict that. So it is the fact. It was the fact when I first said it. It is the fact that I’m saying it now.’

“Unfortunately for Hillary, the State Department today released an email from 2012 that totally contradicts her ‘fact.’ According to Catherine Herridge at Fox News, the email carries ‘a classified code known as a ‘portion marking’ – and that marking was on the email when it was sent directly to Clinton’s account.’ (Not retroactively, as the Clinton camp likes to claim.) . . .”

Also – David Martosko, UK Daily Mail: “White House calls FBI probe into Clinton’s classified emails a ‘criminal investigation’ – to glee of Republicans – on the same day Obama endorses her” Thx Ted!

Also – NY Post: “Team Hillary’s final e-mail defense: mass amnesia

It was another week of news poking fresh holes in Hillary Clinton’s tattered e-mail defense. At this point, the only cover she has left are all the ongoing stonewalls.

One landmark event came Wednesday, when presidential spokesman Josh Earnest for the first time referred to the FBI’s probe of the e-mails as a “criminal investigation.”

“Then came a Wall Street Journal scoop: One thing making it criminal is that top State Department aides sent her e-mails on ‘born classified’ discussions of drone strikes in Pakistan.

“The record already shows that Secretary Clinton’s inner circle knew full well that her private account was run off a home-brewed server — their e-discussions are full of notices that she’s “off e-mail” while the server gets restarted, and even that it’s been taken down because of possible hacker attacks.

“Yet they all colluded in her continued use of it — and in e-mailing her info that everyone at that level of government knows is supposed to be kept to secure networks.

“Meanwhile, ongoing depositions show Team Hillary continuing its ‘amnesia’ stonewall. None of her ex-aides can recall a thing about the private server. For example, Clinton’s former executive secretary, Stephen Mull, was asked: ‘Do you know how you learned’ about the server? ‘I can’t recall,’ he replied. . .”

Joanne: PA Graduation Requirements

BACKGROUND: The KEYSTONE GRADUATION REQUIREMENT has created havoc, both fiscally and educationally, since it was included in the Chapter 4 regulations that were approved in November of 2013.   This regulation requires that all PA students test “Proficient” or above in three Keystone exams (Algebra I, Literature, and Biology) in order to graduate from high school.    Students who are unable to pass any or all of the three designated Keystones must undergo remediation and complete Project Based Assessments (PBA’s) which are not “projects,” but are data-driven, progressive online assessments that are a long version of the Keystones.  The PBA’s impose enormous costly human resource and technological burdens upon school districts.  In addition, educational opportunities are lost for students not testing Proficient since they often must spend so much time on the PBA’s that they are precluded from taking electives and/or vocational-tech programs that are more essential to their individual interests and career goals.

WHAT IS BEING DONE?: Originally, the Keystone graduation requirement was to take effect for students graduating in 2017 or later, but the PA legislature, reacting to innumerable complaints from the public, passed SB 880 several months ago.  This law delayed the implementation year to students graduating in 2019 or later.  SB 880 also required the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to formulate a new accountability plan (by August 1, 2016) which should include what PA intends to do about this requirement. We have been told that the PDE is planning to meet with the heads of the education committees of the PA House and Senate some time in July to brief them before final recommendations are made public in August.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?: The PDE is taking input from the public NOW.  It is time to relay your concerns to your legislators, the governor, and the PDE about this graduation requirement and request that it be repealed — immediately!  It is best to cite specific examples of how this has affected your family, but if that isn’t possible, you could simply explain why you think imposing this mandate on all PA public school students is educationally unsound and then provide reasons.

It is suggested that you contact the following individuals in addition to your OWN PA legislators (your PA representative and senator).

Sy Snyder, PoliticsPA: Ups & Downs, 6/10/16

Tom Wolf. This was one of the best weeks of the Governor’s tenure so far. On Tuesday, he announced that the Shell Cracker Plant was coming to Pennsylvania. Wolf was also magnanimous, sharing credit with his predecessors, Tom Corbett, who worked so hard to make the deal happen. Then on Thursday, Wolf signed a historic liquor reform bill into law. Gov. Wolf is now much stronger as he tries to secure a budget agreement this summer and avoid last year’s disaster.

Frank Fina. After years of rivalry and controversy, Frank Fina was suddenly gone. On Tuesday, the Legal Intelligencer discovered that the polarizing prosecutor had resigned at the beginning of the month. It was quite an unsatisfying conclusion after all we’ve learned about his email habits and his mutually destructive conflict with Kathleen Kane.

Hillary Clinton. The former Secretary of State at long last won the Democratic Presidential nomination this week. That wasn’t the only bit of good news Clinton (and her allies) received, however, as ABC News rated PA as “Lean Democratic” and the latest PPP poll shows her tied with Donald Trump in the Keystone State. While a tie is not optimal, these results reflect a divided Democratic Party that has quickly begun uniting behind Clinton over the last few hours. Finally we learned that Clinton, and Trump, will be visiting Pittsburgh soon.

Seth Williams. The Fina news would be embarrassing enough for the Philadelphia District Attorney, given that Williams infamously stood by his employee. Unfortunately for Williams, though, we learned that the DA had allegedly asked a contributor to get his ex-wife a deal on a rented home. Remember it was just last week that Williams showed up to a fundraiser for indicted State Sen. Larry Farnese. Suffice to say, the Philly DA is not on an upward trajectory.

Pat Toomey. Strictly speaking, Senator Toomey has a lot going for him. He leads in the latest poll and is favored by prognosticators. Mitch McConnell’s PAC and Andrea Mitchell also lent a helping hand. Nevertheless, the specter of Donald Trump continues to haunt the Senator. The critical task for him over the next five months will be to keep his re-election campaign about himself and his opponent and not whatever is happening in the presidential contest. Of course, that’s easier said than done.”
