Remember a Vet!

Janet: Independence Day March, July 4th

Our secession from Great Britain will be honored this year with George Washington crossing the Delaware River in a boat, in tow, while our professional singer is aboard entertaining with Patriotic songs. We plan to have Revolutionary soldiers in costume, and the original 13 colony flags. Events that have happened over the recent years will be memorialized to raise awareness to the crowd. Feel free to uphold your God-given and 2nd Amendment right.

Bring your different American flags. Dress in Colonial garb. Wear your red, white, and blue.

Bring large and easily read posters. Bring banners (we need attendees to hold quite a few that we have). Bring your family. We need proud Americans to throw out 50 pounds of candy, and literature pertaining to our organization.

Afterwards, for whoever cares to gather on the outside patio in the center of the village at Basta Pasta, 4052 Skippack Pike, will have themselves a lot of fun with the dozens who join

us for great food, drink, and conversation!

Plan to join us at 10a.m. at the Skippack Fire Company, 1230 Bridge Road

(right off of Rt 73/Skippack Pike) to plan our lineup. The parade begins at 11,

and lasts approximately one hour. Jane Taylor Toal, CEO Citizens for Liberty, PO Box 782, Oaks, PA, 194546; Telephone: 484-424-3619

David French, NRO: “The Great Gun-Control Distraction”

The Government is our shepherd, don’t arm the sheep . . .

“. . . ISIS is a game-changer, and the idea that gun control will make America safe from jihadists is sheer fantasy. Al-Qaeda’s calling card was the spectacular strike — blowing up embassies, almost sinking an American warship, bringing down the World Trade Center — but once America finally woke up to the danger, we were able to protect ourselves from the elaborate attack. “ISIS, however, has learned the West’s true vulnerability. A free society simply can’t police everyone at once, and a relentless propaganda campaign aimed at radicals worldwide will yield jihadists who are ready to kill with any and all weapons available. The Paris attacks were conducted in a nation with far tighter gun controls than any state in the United States, and it resulted in more than twice the casualties of Orlando. Europe has suffered more than the U.S. in spite of its restrictive legal regime. The virus is spreading. “The gun-control debate is nothing more than a destructive distraction. Is there a single viable gun-control proposal of the last decade that would keep a committed jihadist from arming himself? Indeed, the gun-control debate keeps us from focusing on the true danger: a terrorist movement that’s learning how to attack a free society. It keeps us from focusing on the terrorists’ capabilities and motivations. It keeps us from asking the very hard questions about how to defeat a movement that’s based not just in a jihadist army that takes and holds territory but also in an ancient religious idea that has never gone away. . .”

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, WSJ: Islam’s Jihad Against Homosexuals”

“The rise of modern Islamic extremism has worsened an institutionalized Muslim homophobia.

“I offer an explanation in the form of four propositions.

  1. Muslim homophobia is institutionalized. Islamic law as derived from scripture, and as evolved over several centuries, not only condemns but prescribes cruel and unusual punishments for homosexuality.
  2. Many Muslim-majority countries have laws that criminalize and punish homosexuals in line with Islamic law.
  3. It is thus not surprising that the attitudes of Muslims in Muslim-majority countries are homophobic and that many people from those countries take those attitudes with them when they migrate to the West.
  4. The rise of modern Islamic extremism has worsened the intolerance toward homosexuality. Extremists don’t just commit violence against LGBT people. They also spread the prejudice globally by preaching that homosexuality is a disease and a crime.

Not all Muslims are homophobic. Many are gay or lesbian themselves. Some even have the courage to venture into the gender fluidity that the 21st century West has come to recognize. But these LGBT Muslims are running directly counter to their religion.

In his 2006 book “Crime and Punishment in Islamic Law,” the Dutch scholar Rudolph Peters notes that most schools of Islamic law proscribe homosexuality. They differ only on the mode of punishment. “The Malikites, the Shiites and some Shafi’ites and Hanbalites are of the opinion that the penalty is death, either by stoning (Malikites), the sword (some Shafi’ites and Hanbalites) or, at the discretion of the court, by killing the culprit in the usual manner with a sword, stoning him, throwing him from a (high) wall or burning him (Shiites).”

David French, NRO: “Orlando Aftermath: Welcome to Israel’s Reality”

“. . . We’re slowly moving into Israel’s security reality — the dilemma where external power projection leads to domestic discord and international condemnation, while a purely defensive strategy allows terrorists to recruit, re-arm, and inspire a new wave of jihadists. Israel’s answer is a permanent defensive struggle punctuated by periodic bursts of offensive activity – all of which help keep life in Israel livable and peaceful for the vast majority of its citizens, but at great cost. “Americans hate the notion that there are no good answers to jihad. Something has to work, and if that something helps demonize our political opponents, then all the better. But reality is a harsh teacher, and reality is showing us what a permanent struggle looks like. This is nothing new — western powers have been fighting jihad for more than 1,300 years — but for the American trained in cultural relativism and silly university ideals of diversity, reality can be so shocking that it’s simply easier and more satisfying to deny its existence. “But here’s the bottom line — in the absence of an effective offense, our defensive challenge will grow more difficult. But because there is no way to eradicate jihadist theology from Islam, defense will always be necessary. Welcome to the permanent war. Israel’s been here for a while.”

Stephen Dinan, Washington Times: “American-born children of immigrants proving fruitful recruiting ground for jihad in U.S.”

“. . . Mr. Beutel said the recruits’ ages play a role. They are typically younger and use the social media platforms that the Islamic State has proved so adept at using to spread its message, fostering a sense of community among those struggling with identity”

American teens vote in swarms (for a socialist!) and readily form combat groups in the military. The human brain continues maturation until age 25 . . . there is little surprise that Muslim kids show similar patterns . . . and upsetting, the average IQ in the Middle East is about 75, that in Israel is 110 . . . it could be that many of the brighter Arabs have already migrated . . . meanwhile, Dear Leader makes himself a necessary agent that will make us safe (and keep him in Washington) after his term is over. Cloward-Piven again – make a crisis and make yourself the solution . . .This scam is familiar, why do we keep falling for it? . . .

“While immigrants draw much of the attention, it’s their children who are proving to be the most fruitful recruiting ground for radical jihad in the U.S., accounting for at least half of the deadly attacks over the past decade.

“The latest instance of the second-generation terrorist syndrome played out in Orlando, Florida, over the weekend when Omar Mateen, son of immigrants from Afghanistan, went on a jihad-inspired rampage, killing 49 people and wounding 53 others in the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

Authorities said Mateen had flirted with other terrorist groups but declared his allegiance to the Islamic State on Sunday morning as he began his horrific spree.

“He follows in the footsteps of Syed Rizwan Farook, one of the San Bernardino, California, terrorists who was the son of Pakistanis; Nadir Soofi, one of two men who attacked a drawing competition in Garland, Texas, last year and whose father was from Pakistan; and then-Maj. Nidal Hassan, the child of Palestinian immigrants whose shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009 set off the modern round of deadly lone-wolf attacks.

“In other cases, attackers were immigrants brought to the U.S. as young children. They grew up in the U.S. but were besieged by questions of identity.

“Authorities said Mateen had flirted with other terrorist groups but declared his allegiance to the Islamic State on Sunday morning as he began his horrific spree.

In other cases, attackers were immigrants brought to the U.S. as young children. They grew up in the U.S. but were besieged by questions of identity.

“Historically, the ‘high stress’ generation for American immigrants has been second generation,” said former CIA Director Michael V. Hayden. “Mom and Pop can rely on the culture of where they came from. Their grandchildren will be (more or less) thoroughly American. The generation in between, though, is anchored neither in the old or in the new. They often are searching for self or identity beyond self.”

The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were all foreigners who gained entry to the U.S. on visas, sparking a heated and still-running debate over the role of borders in trying to keep out would-be attackers.

“But the second-generation killers pose a different issue: how to keep children of immigrants from abandoning the precepts of their adopted home. . .”

Seung Kim, Burgess Everett, & John Bresnahan, Politico: “Republicans on hot seat over gun control”

“Senate Democrats are pressing for another vote to bar suspected terrorists from purchasing firearms.

“Congressional Democrats are wasting little time putting Republicans on the hot seat after the massacre in Orlando, Florida, demanding that recalcitrant GOP lawmakers join their effort to bar suspected terrorists from buying guns or face the political fallout.

“Senate Democrats said Monday they will revive legislation that would allow the FBI to deny firearm purchases by people on terrorism watch lists, a proposal that failed in December on a mostly party-line vote, 45-54. Democrats said they will try to attach the new firearm prohibitions to the Commerce, Justice and Science spending bill that will be on the Senate floor this week.

“House Democrats will join in the new legislative push, but top House Republicans predicted the measure would go nowhere. . .”

Andrew McCarthy, PJM: “Orlando and Willful Blindness at the New York Times”

“For over a millennium, classical sharia has endorsed the condemnation and brutal killing of homosexuals.”

“. . . It will take some time to draw firm conclusions about Mateen’s case. Still, FBI Director Jim Comey has been admirably open in explaining that while agents appear to have (twice) probed Mateen responsibly, the Bureau must keep exploring whether clues were missed and more could have been done.

“That aside, there are two major flaws in the Times’ account, and quite possibly in the government’s self-examination of its performance.

“These errors illuminate Washington’s quarter-century of consciously avoiding the proximate cause of jihadist terror: sharia-supremacist ideology.

“Our opinion elites resist acknowledging this because it is drawn literally from Islamic scripture. . .”

LEADS . . .

Stephen Dinan, Washington Times: “Illegal immigrants who overstay visas hardly ever caught, feds admit”

“Immigration agents catch an abysmally small percentage of the illegal immigrants who arrived on visas but overstayed their welcome, authorities admitted to Congress Tuesday, describing a loophole that those around the globe are increasingly using to gain a foothold in the U.S.

“At least 480,000 people overstayed their visas last year, adding to a backlog that’s reached some 5 million total, members of Congress said. But immigration agents launched investigations into just 10,000 of them, or about 0.2 percent, and arrested fewer than 2,000, less than 0.04 percent, saying the others don’t rise to the level of being priority targets.

“‘We utilize our prioritization scheme along with the resources that we have,’ Craig Healy, assistant director for national security investigations at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said as he struggled to defend the administration’s meager efforts. . .”

Tyler Durden, ZeroHedge: “Saudi Arabia Has Funded 20% Of Hillary’s Presidential Campaign, Saudi Crown Prince Claims”

“In what may be the pinnacle of hypocrisy, moments ago Hillary Clinton, while speaking live on national security and addressing the Orlando shooting took some time from her constant bashing of the Second Amendment and calling for a ban on assault rifles, to say some less than kind words about Saudi Arabia whom it accused of supporting radical organizations. This is what she said:

The third area that demands attention is preventing radicalization and countering efforts by ISIS and other international terrorist networks to recruit in the United States and Europe. For starters, it is long past time for the Saudis, the Qataris and the Kuwaitis and others to stop their citizens from funding extremist organizations. And they should stop supporting radical schools and mosques around the world that have set too many young people on a path towards extremism. We also have to use all our capabilities to counter jihadist propaganda online. This is something that I spend a lot of time on at the State Department.

There is nothing wrong with that statement, as it is the whole truth – Saudi Arabia’s involvement in supporting terrorism stretches from Sept 11 all the way through to ISIS – however, where there  is a big, and potentially law-breaking,  problem is what Jordan’s official news agency, Petra News Agency, reported on Sunday citing the Saudi crown price, namely that Saudi Arabia is a major funder of Hillary Clinton’s campaign to become the next president of the United States. . .”

Also: Richard Pollock, Daily Caller: “EXCLUSIVE: Cryptic NY Filing Revealed Clinton Foundation Foreign Donations”

“Clinton Foundation officials used an obscure New York state charity board filing to disclose that the non-profit received nearly $18 million in donations from foreign governments while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.  The specific foreign governments were not identified in the document, entitled “Exhibit A.”

“The latest filing was submitted last January before the public charity division operated by New York Attorney General Eric Schneidermann, a Democrat. The money was given between 2010 and 2013, the exact years when Clinton was America’s chief diplomat.

The January filings also were unusual in that the latest submission now constituted a third “official” revised version of the Clinton Foundation’s financial statements for the foundation’s activities while Clinton was in public office.”

“But a new line was added in the January submission that stated: “All other government grants came from foreign governments.”  The total figure for each of the four years equalled $17.7 million. . .”

PA . . .

Replay: Joanne: PA Graduation Requirements

BACKGROUND: The KEYSTONE GRADUATION REQUIREMENT has created havoc, both fiscally and educationally, since it was included in the Chapter 4 regulations that were approved in November of 2013.   This regulation requires that all PA students test “Proficient” or above in three Keystone exams (Algebra I, Literature, and Biology) in order to graduate from high school.    Students who are unable to pass any or all of the three designated Keystones must undergo remediation and complete Project Based Assessments (PBA’s) which are not “projects,” but are data-driven, progressive online assessments that are a long version of the Keystones.  The PBA’s impose enormous costly human resource and technological burdens upon school districts.  In addition, educational opportunities are lost for students not testing Proficient since they often must spend so much time on the PBA’s that they are precluded from taking electives and/or vocational-tech programs that are more essential to their individual interests and career goals.

WHAT IS BEING DONE?: Originally, the Keystone graduation requirement was to take effect for students graduating in 2017 or later, but the PA legislature, reacting to innumerable complaints from the public, passed SB 880 several months ago.  This law delayed the implementation year to students graduating in 2019 or later.  SB 880 also required the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to formulate a new accountability plan (by August 1, 2016) which should include what PA intends to do about this requirement. We have been told that the PDE is planning to meet with the heads of the education committees of the PA House and Senate some time in July to brief them before final recommendations are made public in August.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?: The PDE is taking input from the public NOW.  It is time to relay your concerns to your legislators, the governor, and the PDE about this graduation requirement and request that it be repealed — immediately!  It is best to cite specific examples of how this has affected your family, but if that isn’t possible, you could simply explain why you think imposing this mandate on all PA public school students is educationally unsound and then provide reasons.

It is suggested that you contact the following individuals in addition to your OWN PA legislators (your PA representative and senator).

Mark Levin (06/14/16)

“On Tuesday’s Mark Levin show, President Obama is now showing his anger – not to the radical Islamic terrorists – but to law-abiding American citizens. He really shows his anger when he’s attacking Americans, but when it comes to the enemy he’s very monotone and soft-spoken. After three speeches following the Orlando terror attack, Obama has not once united the American people. Instead we get lectures about Islam and gun control.

“Also, the fact that Republicans can’t respond to Obama is appalling. There is not a leader among the so called leaders including Mitch McConnell. The only time they get angry is when they are attacking Ted Cruz. Later, there was a 6 month period in 2011, where Iraqi’s were prevented by the Obama Administration from coming into the U.S. because of terrorism. Now Obama considers this racist, but this is really about preserving the country not racism. ‘
