HILLARY . . .
Roger Simon, PJM: “Will the Clinton Foundation Mark the Fall of Our Republic?”
“No matter how extreme the future revelations of Julian Assange and others turn out to be, the truth about the Clinton Foundation is already clear. Whatever its original intentions, this supposed charity became a medium to leverage Hillary Clinton’s position as secretary of State for personal enrichment and global control by the Clintons and their allies. We also now know—as the Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel made clear in her recent oped—why Hillary decided to hide all her emails on her “infamous server.”
“To my knowledge, nothing like this has ever been done in the history of the United States government. It calls to mind, if anything, the United Nations’ scandalous Oil-for-Food program in which millions were siphoned off from a plan to feed Iraq’s children during the war.
“It could even be worse, because of the national security implications. The Clinton Foundation and the State Department were commingled to such an extent we may never know the truth, certainly not before the election since that same State Department has refused to release Hillary’s official schedule before then.”
Also – Kimberley Strassel, Fox: “Under Hillary, State and the Clinton Foundation were one seamless entity”
“This is the week that the steady drip, drip, drip of details about Hillary Clinton’s server turned into a waterfall. This is the week that we finally learned why Mrs. Clinton used a private communications setup, and what it hid. This is the week, in short, that we found out that the infamous server was designed to hide that Mrs. Clinton for three years served as the U.S. Secretary of the Clinton Foundation.
“In March this column argued that while Mrs. Clinton’s mishandling of classified information was important, it missed the bigger point. The Democratic nominee obviously didn’t set up her server with the express purpose of exposing national secrets—that was incidental. She set up the server to keep secret the details of the Clintons’ private life—a life built around an elaborate and sweeping money-raising and self-promoting entity known as the Clinton Foundation.. .”
Mark Abadi, Business Insider: “Donald Trump challenges Hillary Clinton to release detailed medical records”
“Donald Trump continued to raise questions about Hillary Clinton’s health on Sunday, challenging the Democratic presidential nominee in a tweet to release “detailed medical records.”
Clinton has withstood two weeks’ worth of health-related attacks from her Republican rival and conservative pundits and websites. Earlier this month, Trump claimed in multiple speechesthat Clinton lacked the “mental and physical stamina” required of the presidency.
LEADS . . .
Nigam Arora, Market Watch: “Janet Yellen’s speech was wishy-washy. Now what?”
“Be prudent: Stocks, bonds and gold are now vulnerable in both directions
“In her much-anticipated speech at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Symposium at Jackson Hole, Wyo. on Friday, Janet Yellen started out by eloquently making a clear case for a Fed interest-rate hike. Then it seems she couldn’t help herself and turned wishy-washy.
“Yellen’s wishy-washiness has made the markets vulnerable in both directions. The reason is that bulls can read her statement as bullish and at the same time bears can read her statement as bearish. This chart illustrates that battle between bulls and bears. . .”

LA Times: All Tied Up
Rebecca Rosenberg & Bruce Golding, NY Post: “Anthony Weiner sexted busty brunette while his son was in bed with him”
“This is baby-sitting — Anthony Weiner-style.
“While his wife, Huma Abedin, travels the country campaigning for Hillary Clinton, the disgraced ex-congressman has been sexting with a busty brunette out West — and even sent her a lurid crotch shot with his toddler son in the picture, The Post has learned.
“The stay-at-home cad shot the revealing photo while discussing massage parlors ‘near my old apartment’ shortly after 3 a.m. on July 31, 2015, a screenshot of the exchange shows.
“Weiner was clearly aroused by his conversation with the 40-something divorcee when he abruptly changed the subject.
“‘Someone just climbed into my bed,’ Weiner wrote.
“‘Really?’ she responded.
Weiner then hit ‘Send’ on the cringe-inducing image, which shows a bulge in his white, Jockey-brand boxer briefs and his son cuddled up to his left, wrapped in a light-green blanket.
“‘You do realize you can see you[r] Weiner in that pic??’ the woman wrote.
“Moments after forwarding the photo, Weiner freaked out over the possibility he had accidentally posted it publicly — just as he did during the infamous episode that forced him to resign from Congress in 2011. . .”
Sy Snyder, 8/26 Ups & Downs
“Pat Toomey. Senator Toomey is doing his best in this campaign, the problem is that his best may not be good enough. On the one hand, he got the endorsement of Gabby Giffords for his work on gun safety and secured $1.1 million worth of supportive TV ads from a conservative 501(c)(4). On the other hand, his race was moved to toss-up status. Unfortunately for the incumbent,Pennsylvania may be a state where Donald Trump brings more harm than good to the down-ballot GOP candidates. Regardless of the outcome, the next three months are set to be the toughest fight of Pat Toomey’s political life.
“DCCC. It’s not every week that Russian hackers become involved with the politics of Southeast PA. The Hill was sent memos and documents stolen from the DCCC thatrevealed the party’s attempts to recruit other nominees in the PA-6 and PA-7races. It was no secret that Mike Parrish and Mary Ellen Balchunis weren’t the favorites of the Democratic establishment but to have it officially confirmed makes the party look ineffective. Not to mention that on Monday a Republican Super PAC,the Congressional Leadership Fund, pledged to spend $1.1 million against PA-8 Democratic nominee Steve Santarsiero. The DCCC can’t afford many more cycles where they come up empty handed in SEPA.
“Kathleen Kane. “If I get taken out of here in handcuffs, what do you think my last act will be?” the former Attorney General once warned. It now appears that Kane’s pledge to take her enemies down with her will be fulfilled. Doug Gansler is sending out notices to state employees that they’re mentioned in his report on the pornographic emails and with Bruce Castor’s tenure set to end on Tuesday, we may soon see its release. Plus, there’s the trouble that Philly DA Seth Williams hasgotten himself into. Kane wasn’t the first to go away in handcuffs and she probably won’t be the last either.
“Ed Rendell. For a man who makes a career out of being surrogate, you’d think he’d be better at it. Once again, the long-time member of Clintonworld managed to embarrass Bill and Hillary when he criticized their conduct concerning the Clinton Foundation. Rendell has always sold himself as a ‘straight-shooter’, but just how much friendly fire does he actually think he can get away with?
“Eric Papenfuse. We’ll be giving the Harrisburg Mayor a down arrow every week until he lifts his ridiculous ban of PennLive. We’ve now reached week eleven.”
