Change your vote!

“While it’s true that absentee voters can change their ballot, the Department of State says the tweet, which has been shared 4,000 times, needed clarification.

“Wanda Murren, the department’s press secretary, said Pa. absentee voters can’t change their ballots by calling the department.

“To change their votes, Murren said, absentees instead have to appear in person on election day, Nov. 8, and vote.

“”And that will void the absentee ballot,” she said. . .”

Janet: Sample Ballot

Here is a list of districts in Chester County to see your sample ballot for Nov. 8. Please note the second page! Vote NO on this item. They are trying to increase the retirement age of judges. (Their next job?)

The Pa. Constitution already has a mandatory retirement age of 70!

On the Montgomery ballot it’s the question on the right side.

Battleground Pittsburgh

“In September we identified the Pittsburgh/Southwest region as a key indicator of the trends of the race. Donald Trump now leads there by 6%, after previously trailing Clinton by 3%. The other regional patterns are generally stable.”

But who is going to win?

Despite a dead heat on the ballot, a majority of likely voters expect Hillary Clinton to win the election on Tuesday (50% Clinton-37% Trump). This is consistent with our September results (49-38%). Women (51-34%) and men (49-42%) both believe Clinton will win. Likely voters in Pittsburgh and the Southwest (42-45%) and the South Central (29-56%) regions of the state are outliers in believing Trump will win (Northern Tier: 41-40%, Philadelphia/SE: 67-24%, Scranton/LV: 47-38%).–11-2-3#PresidentTIE

“Hillary Clinton very conspicuously resisted the FBI’s investigation. So, there is anger within the FBI because it made the FBI look weak.”

Hillary Clinton sparked an FBI backlash, which is now surfacing, when she stonewalled the Feds, who were trying to investigate her private server, Julian Assange said during the John Pilger Special, courtesy of Dartmouth Films, which is now available in full on RT.

“If you go to history of the FBI, it has become effectively America’s political police. And the FBI demonstrated with taking down the former head of the CIA [David Petraeus in 2012] over classified information given to his mistress that almost no one was untouchable. The FBI is always trying to demonstrate that. ‘No one can resist us,’” Assange told the Australian journalist during the 25-minute interview.

Jim Stinson, Polizette: “Pennsylvania State Police Stage Voter Fraud Sting”

“Company allegedly forging registrations in Keystone State also signed up phony voters in Ohio

“Pennsylvania state police have raided two offices of a voter registration group, just as the election approaches in what could be a crucial state.

“Police raided the Philadelphia office of FieldWorks LLC’s office on Thursday after raiding another office in Delaware County, Pa., just days earlier.

“According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the police used a warrant seeking forms that could be used to “construct fraudulent voter registration forms” and “completed voter registration forms containing same or similar identifying information of individuals on multiple forms.”

“The Washington-based group has pledged to work with state police, the Inquirer reported. . .”

CBS: “Sources: U.S. intel warning of possible al Qaeda attacks in U.S. Monday”
NEW YORK — CBS News has learned about a potential terror threat for the day before the election.

“Sources told CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton that U.S. intelligence has alerted joint terrorism task forces that al Qaeda could be planning attacks in three states for Monday.

“It is believed New York, Texas and Virginia are all possible targets, though no specific locations are mentioned. A U.S. law enforcement source briefed on the threat information told CBS News’ Milton that the threat is possibly legitimate and concerning. The source said the threat may be aspirational and hence the lack of specificity. The source said there has been pressure on al Qaeda and its affiliates AQAP and AQIS (al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent) to regain relevance with its mission. . .”

Deroy Murdock, NRO: “Americans Have a Chance to Dethrone the House of Clinton”

“The Clintons and their minions deserve to be driven from public life.
“‘Drain the swamp!” GOP presidential nominee Donald J. Trump has insisted before huge crowds increasingly confident of a well-deserved, sorely needed, come-from-behind victory.

But this slogan doesn’t quite capture the urgency of the moment.

“This one does:  ‘Flush the toilet!’
“Washington’s corruption under Barack Obama and the Clintons has devolved to fetid depths suggestive of the days before indoor plumbing. Step back and shudder at today’s unsanitary state of public affairs.
“The Cosa Nostra–like tone that Hillary Clinton has set for herself and her associates suggests a preview for a new film: The Godmother.
“As word emerged on March 2, 2015, that Hillary maintained an outlaw e-mail system in her Chappaqua mansion’s basement, WikiLeaks reports, her campaign chairman, John Podesta, e-mailed her top aide, Cheryl Mills: “We’re going to have to dump all those e-mails.” Podesta now claims that the meaning of the word “dump” is to “release, distribute, or otherwise publicize.” This might be plausible, except that Team Clinton then erased some 33,000 “private” e-mails and used BleachBit software to guarantee that Hillary’s server, at least digitally, sleeps with the fishes. Hillary’s aides demolished her 13 communications devices — not the single one that she lied about having, for “convenience” — some with hammers.
“Most of this happened while these public records were under congressional subpoena. This is called obstruction of justice. . .”

Andrew McCarthy, NRO: “Why Is the Clinton Foundation Investigation Being Run from Brooklyn?”

“The Justice Department is conducting its probe in a very Clinton-friendly district.“On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal’s Devlin Barrett published another eye-opening report about the FBI’s Clinton Foundation investigation. It elaborates on the pitched battle between FBI agents who believe they are building a strong case and Justice Department prosecutors who have thrown cold water on it, erecting roadblocks that have made the agents’ work much more difficult.
“For reasons worth pausing over, the locus of that battle is the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, which is headquartered in Brooklyn.
“As I explained earlier this week, that is the office that Attorney General Loretta Lynch ran for several years after being appointed by President Obama during his first term — up until Obama appointed her U.S. attorney general. That was Ms. Lynch’s second tenure running the EDNY. She was launched into national prominence when President Bill Clinton made her the EDNY’s U.S. attorney in 1999. So the Clinton Foundation investigation is being overseen by the prosecutors’ office to which Lynch is closest — filled with prosecutors she hired, trained, and supervised.
“Is it any wonder, then, that the EDNY seems to have broadened its territorial reach? . . .”

Neil McCabe, Breitbart: “Exclusive–Ben Carson: The Election Is Not about Trump or Clinton, It is About the Direction of the Country”

“The world’s greatest pediatric neurosurgeon and a former GOP candidate for president told Breitbart News he feels the country coming around for Donald J. Trump because of his stands on the issues.

“The election is not about Donald Trump, it is not about Hillary Clinton, it is about the direction of the country,” said Dr. Ben Carson, who is campaigning in Iowa as a surrogate for Trump.

“Carson, who was very competitive in the Iowa caucus campaign and finished in fourth with nine percent of the vote, said he enjoyed campaigning in Iowa and interacting with the voters there.

“‘I was very impressed by how well-versed the people were,’ he said. ‘There might be a town of 400 people and everybody would show up and they all seemed to know what the issues were and asked very good questions.’

“Because Iowans are high-knowledge voters, the brain surgeon said they are fully capable of dismissing all the noise that the media is generating to distract them.

President Barack Obama won Iowa in 2008 and in 2012, but this year the state is going for Trump, he said. “People are starting to recognize the implications of putting another progressive in the Oval Office.’ . . .”

Sy Snyder, PoliticsPA: 11/4 Ups & Downs

Hillary Clinton. In the past week, six polls have been released testing the presidential contest in Pennsylvania. Hillary Clinton lead in all six. CBS/YouGov, Franklin & Marshall, CNN, Monmouth, Susquehanna and Quinnipiac showed her with leads of eight, eleven, four, four, two and five points respectively. The former Secretary of State will also make three stops in the Keystone State before Tuesday, including a stop in Pittsburgh today and Katy Perry’s GOTV concert in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Finally, we learned that Monday night will feature a mammoth rally in Philly with Hillary, Bill and Chelsea Clinton being joined by Barack and Michelle Obama. Nothing is certain but you’d rather be Clinton right now when it comes to Pennsylvania’s twenty electoral votes.

Pat Toomey. Speaking of polls, Senator Toomey had a brutal week. Those same surveys showed the Senator down three, twelve, five, three, six and one points. On Thursday he was grilled on TV about whether he supports Trump, a decision he has still yet to make. Worst of all, as Harry Enten of FiveThirtyEight noted, his race is a national outlier that is drifting away from the Republicans as other contest tighten. Everyone expected Toomey to have a tough race, few anticipated he would be the underdog going into the homestretch.

Joe Biden. The Scranton native is all over Pennsylvania in this final week before the election. The Vice President will be campaigning in Pittsburgh and Bucks County on Saturday. In fact, he cut a TV ad for PA-8 Democratic nominee Steve Santarsiero (Bucks makes up most of the 8th District). Then on Sunday, he’ll be holding events in Harrisburg and his birth-town Scranton. Additionally Katie McGinty, who Biden also did a TV spot for, will be accompanying the VP all weekend. His career may be ending but the Vice President is not going out quietly.

Marty Flynn. Every election season someone comes out of nowhere and does something extremely stupid. As depressing as it is to see our public officials commit these errors, we’d be lying if they didn’t provide some much-needed levity. State Rep. Marty Flynn recently walked into a meeting with the Scranton Times-Tribune editorial board and fell flat on his face. According to the Times-Tribune, Rep. Flynn had difficulty naming any goals for the next term. He even bragged about how sitting on the Insurance Committee helps you fundraise. Points for honesty I guess.

Eric Papenfuse. We’ll be giving the Harrisburg Mayor a down arrow every week until he lifts his ridiculous ban of PennLive. We’re up to week twenty-one.

Leo Knepper, CAP Endorsements

The long term goal of our Ben Franklin Project is to elect fifty-five members to the House and fifteen to the Senate. Here is our list of endorsed candidates for this year’s general election:

Mark Levin, 11/4/16

“On Friday’s Mark Levin show, Two officers were shot in cold blood in the Bronx, NY on Friday and 2 were killed in Iowa recently. Meanwhile you have President Obama and Hillary Clinton going around and screaming about Donald Trump’s finger being on the nuclear code. Why don’t we hear anything from them about the officers who were tragically shot?

“After that, Mike Pence calls in to talk about the state of the campaign and the two possible futures the American people have in front of them. Hillary Clinton wants a healthcare system like Canada and Trump wants to turn healthcare over to the private sector and unleash the power of the free market. In addition, Trump wants to pick Supreme Court justices who will respect and honor the Constitution and their decisions, while Hillary will nominate radical leftists to the court.

“Later, Scott Garrett from New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District calls in to talk about his reelection campaign. The Republicans are not coming to Garrett’s aid. He is under attack from the left and his own party won’t defend him. This is how Paul Ryan and Republicans thin the herd and exactly how they treated Tim Huelskamp. They attack conservatives more than they fight Obama and Hillary.

“Finally, Marco Rubio calls in to talk about his reelection campaign to the U.S. Senate in Florida.”
