Chanukah begins Sat. night, Dec. 24, 2016 and continues through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017

Cloward-Piven – make a problem and grow the government that you want to solve it.

Expect an explosion in DC housing as DonaldJ cuts the size of government. Expect wails from agency staff, lobbyists, and their congressional representatives. Everyone will become a “necessity” as they try to stay near their transportation, dining, recreational favorites, their wives’ spa, and schools for their kids.

Oh well . . . back to Massachusetts for the lot! Harvard will be able to cut salaries!

James Brody: Obama’s Grand Theft

BarryO is stealing my stuff – I paid for his pen, phone, notepaper, clerical help, rent, and jet – but he intends to take it with him to Chicago. It will remain a valuable resource for his international meddling, particularly in the Middle East. And I suspect Iranian Val Jarrett will stay closer to him than Michelle.

Somehow, we dupes accepted the “right” for a former president to have a private library but one filled with public property, property that belongs to the American people and should find its long term, supervised home in the National Archives.

The FBI/CIA/Superintendent of Documents should be indignant and giving “desist” orders to the Secret Service instead of letting BarryO use this material for his post-presidential mischief. . . or insist that Valerie make photocopies for his use!

Times of Israel: “Iran to begin gas injection into new, advanced centrifuges”

Obama’s Cloward-Piven move to keep things to do . . .

“Tehran insists move is permitted under 2015 nuclear deal which allows R&D on IR-8s, capable of enriching uranium 20 times faster than previous machines

“Iran’s nuclear energy agency indicated Tuesday that Tehran would soon begin injecting gas into the latest generation of advanced centrifuges, IR-8, in a move that marks the next step to make them operational and that Iran says is permitted under the terms of the nuclear deal signed last year with six world powers.

“The IR8 tests have come to an end and they will go into the stage of gas injection in the next few weeks,” a spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, announced at a press conference on Tuesday, according to the semi-official Fars new agency.

“The report added that this step will proceed in accordance with “the nuclear deal that allows research activities on the eighth generation of Iran’s centrifuge machines, known as the IR-8.’ . . .”

Harper Neidig, The Hill: Trump warns UN after Israel vote: ‘Things will be different’ soon”

“President-elect Donald Trump slammed the Obama administration for its decision not to veto a U.N. resolution critical of Israel’s settlements, promising that it would be “different” under his presidency.

“As to the U.N., things will be different after Jan. 20th,” Trump tweeted Friday.

Trump’s tweet came about an hour after The U.N. Security Council passed a resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlement building in occupied territories.

“The U.S. had the ability to veto the resolution but abstained from doing so despite pressure from Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. lawmakers.

The Obama administration’s decision to let it pass represents a break from the longstanding U.S. policy of shielding Israel from U.N. reproaches.

NRO: “The D.C. Court of Appeals Undermines the First Amendment”

“Yesterday, the D.C Court of Appeals issued its decision in Michael Mann’s defamation case against us and the Competitive Enterprise Institute. The court dismissed Mann’s claims for intentional infliction of emotional distress, and also dismissed his claims based on an open letter written by our editor-in-chief Rich Lowry taking Dr. Mann to task for threatening to file this bullying lawsuit in the first place. At the same time, the court refused to dismiss the defamation claims against NR and CEI based on blog posts by Mark Steyn and Rand Simberg respectively criticizing Mann’s infamous “hockey stick” graph, which is widely touted as providing lead-pipe cinch scientific proof of man-made global warming.
“In refusing to dismiss these claims, the opinion is badly mistaken. Worse, it represents an unprecedented threat to the freedom of speech in our nation’s capital. There’s a reason that a broad coalition of groups including the ACLU, the Washington Post, the Cato Institute, and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press filed briefs in support of NR in the case.
“Properly understood, the First Amendment provides broad protection for free expression on matters of political and scientific controversy. It protects vigorous debate not only over the merits but also over the ethics of politically controversial scientific enterprises. In particular, it protects the right of all Americans — scientists, journalists, and even bloggers — to express caustic criticism of scientific theories that purport to resolve hot-button political controversies on matters as sweepingly consequential as the extent and cause of global warming.
“The court’s decision yesterday badly neglects these principles. It holds that NR can be subjected to a judicial trial and possible sanctions for publishing a blog post arguing that the infamous ‘hockey stick’ graph is misleading, and that the underlying scientific techniques are so badly deceptive that they deserve to be denounced as a form of misconduct. The court’s decision thus declares open season on anyone who dares to criticize Mann for ‘molesting and torturing data’ and (in the court’s words) engaging in ‘deception and wrongdoing’ or ‘serious misconduct.’ . . .”

Replay: Carol Morello, WaPo: “Donald Trump says he wants to ‘greatly strengthen and expand’ U.S. nuclear capability, a radical break from U.S. foreign policy”

“President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday called for the United States to expand its nuclear arsenal, after Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country’s nuclear potential needs fortifying, in what would reverse decades of efforts to reduce the number and size of the two countries’ nuclear weapons.

“In a tweet that offered no details, Trump said, ‘The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes.’

“Trump’s tweet came shortly after Putin, during a defense ministry meeting, talked tough on nuclear weapons.

“‘We need to strengthen the military potential of strategic nuclear forces, especially with missile complexes that can reliably penetrate any existing and prospective missile defense systems,’ he said. . .”

Andrew McCarthy, PJM: “Trump Should Quickly Rescind Obama’s Drilling Ban”

“In his enviro-extremism, President Obama is attempting to tie President-elect Trump’s hands by blocking vast swaths of the Arctic Ocean and stretches of the Atlantic from oil and natural-gas drilling. The gambit, announced by the administration on Tuesday, is part of an eleventh-hour wave by which Obama is flooding the regulatory zone: Promulgating so many rules – of the unpopular, hard-left variety that Democrats dare not unveil before Election Days – that he hopes the Trump administration will find it too cumbersome to undo all of them.

“The incoming president should not let his predecessor get away with it. Obama’s lawyers apparently believe they’ve found a loophole that could make the anti-drilling ban stick. President Trump, however, will have the power to rescind it, and should do so promptly.

Obama will set an all-time record for pages added to the Federal Register this year. Actually, make that another all-time record, since he will (yet again) be breaking records he has set, and broken, repeatedly over the last eight years. In fact, the Competitive Enterprise Institute notes that on a single day in mid-November, Obama added an unprecedented 572 pages to the Federal Register.

I bet he didn’t dump it but told Val Jarrett to pack it for him to take . . . remember, BO still needs a job and depends on immigration and Islam to make a Cloward-Piven situation that will make him essential and wealthy . . . He and Hillary will probably run much the same kinds of “Foundation.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration said Thursday it is officially scrapping a post-9/11 requirement for immigrant men from predominantly Muslim countries to register with the federal government. The U.S. hasn’t used the program since 2011, but a top immigration adviser to President-elect Donald Trump has spoken of renewing it.

The decision to end the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, or NSEERs, comes amid growing international terror fears and Trump’s suggestions that he could ban Muslim immigrants from the United States. After a truck attack killed 12 in a Christmas market in Berlin this week, Trump told reporters, “You know my plans.”

Andrew McCarthy, NRO: “Obama’s Betrayal of Israel Is a Black Day for American Diplomacy”

“It is Islamist-leftist dogma that Israel’s millennia of attachment to its homeland count for nothing.
“Adding a final shameful chapter to a foreign-policy record that already runneth over with them, Barack Obama on Friday abandoned America’s commitment to Israel’s security, and to the vindication of democracy over sharia-supremacist aggression. In an act of cowardly venom, the president had the United States abstain from — and thereby effectively enact — a United Nations Security Council resolution that condemns Israeli settlement activity.
“At least, that’s what the resolution ostensibly does. The reality is much more than that. The resolution undertakes to render our ally indefensible.
“It was a black day in modern American diplomatic history, a flurry of sinister wheeling and dealing while the nation — exhausted by the election, anticipating a weekend of Christmas and Hanukkah celebration — was looking the other way.
“To his great credit, Donald Trump was not. The president-elect asserted himself on Israel’s behalf, backing up his campaign promise that “America First” meant restoration of America’s reputation as a dependable friend and an enemy not to be trifled with. Under the pressure he generated, Egypt backed down, withdrawing its sponsorship of the resolution.
“But such is the disdain in which Israel is openly held after eight Obama years of empowering Islamists that four other countries — Malaysia, Venezuela, Senegal, and, of all places, New Zealand — revived the resolution, knowing they had the State Department’s backing. With the U.S. abstention, it was easily approved. . .”

Val DiGiorgio. The Chester County politico has become the clear favorite to be the next Chair of the Pennsylvania Republican Party. DiGiorgio first started laying the groundwork to take over for incumbent Chair Rob Gleason back in the summer. His offensive intensified after the November election in order to stay ahead of competitors like lawyer Lawrence Tabas. DiGiorgio’s biggest score, though, was the endorsement of Senator Pat Toomey. It’s now the Chester native’s to win or lose.

(Hillary took Chester County! JB)

Bill Peduto. The Pittsburgh Mayor has been generally successful implementing his progressive agenda in the Steel City. A major reason for that has been his allies in the City Council. Then on Thursday on of those partners, Natalia Rudiak, revealed she won’t be running for re-election in 2017. Perhaps the Mayor will ultimately prevail, but for now this opponents have a prime opportunity in the city’s 4th district.

Gwen Camp. Joe Torsella was one of the few success stories for the Democrats on November 8th. The former Deputy Mayor of Philadelphia was able to pick up the valuable statewide post of State Treasurer. On Wednesday, Torsella announced that Gwen Camp would be his Chief of Staff. Camp, who is coming off her position as Senator Casey’s State Director, will be tasked with working alongside Torsella as they rebuild the Treasury Department in the wake of Rob McCord.

J.J. Abbott. The Governor’s Office announced Wednesday that Press Secretary Jeffrey Sheridan will be stepping down at the end of the year. Shortly afterward, Sheridan confirmed that he’ll be managing Wolf’s 2018 re-election campaign. The opening will be filled by the Governor’s Deputy Press Secretary J.J. Abbott, who’ll move up to the top spot on January 1st. Good luck to Mr. Abbott, because legislative Republicans will do all the can to make sure it’s not a happy new year for the Administration.

Eric Papenfuse. We’ll be giving the Harrisburg Mayor a down arrow every week until he lifts his ridiculous ban of PennLive. We’re now up to week twenty-eight.

Mark Levin, 12/23/16Best Of)

“On Friday’s Mark Levin show, we bring you the best of Mark Levin and wish you a very Merry Christmas! When it comes to President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet, it’s make the Establishment and Goldman Sachs great again.

“With the nomination of Elaine Chao, the wife of Sen. Mitch McConnell, for Secretary of Transportation and Steven Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs employee, for Treasury Secretary, it’s quite obvious that Trump and the Republican Establishment are now partners. This is not Trump draining the swamp, this is the swamp draining Trump. Conservatives need to be more vigilant than ever. Has anyone seen any Sen Ted Cruz supporters nominated for cabinet positions? Trump hasn’t had a good appointment since Mike Flynn, Jeff Sessions, and Mike Pompeo. At the end of the day personnel is policy. Without principled and loyal cabinet secretaries the Trump administration is putting itself in a failing position.

“After that, there is no mandate for populism, nationalism, and big government who picks winners and losers. . It was conservatives near the end who decided the winner of this election; we were the neithers.

“Later, Kellyanne Conway said the Trump election was a landslide. This is not the case as Trump is 44th in a line of presidents who won the Electoral College. He won 56.9% of the Electoral College and this is not a landslide by any historical measure.”

In memory of Christ, Merry Christmas, and a shabbat shalom for Hanukah!
