Janet: Obama Care:

There are no more excuses for not repealing Obamacare. Establishment Republicans are, nonetheless, dragging their feet on what was a major campaign promise. We are hearing that liberals are calling Congress in massive numbers to ensure the survival of socialist medicine and the ‘death panel’. Conservatives must act asap.

The deadline to repeal Obamacare, with the reconciliation process that allows passage in the Senate with only 51 votes (Republicans have 52), is April 28, 2017.

Please be aware that repeal must come first, then, replace. A transition period is included in the repeal effort that gives Obamacare insurers and insured the time to transition to a replacement plan. Combining repeal and replace significantly jeopardizes the repeal process.

Michael Ledeen, PJM: “The Real War in ‘Syria’ and the Strategy for Long-Term Victory”

“Of course I loathe Assad. And of course I despise the Obamans for that phony red line and the subsequent retreat-and-bogus-Russian-deal. But just carrying out vengeance against Assad isn’t good enough. It fails to address the central problem of our time: the global anti-American alliance.

“There is no Syria any more, and the enemy forces on the Middle Eastern battlefield come from various jihadi groups, and three regimes: Moscow, Tehran, and Damascus. We have to defeat them all, and other members of the enemy alliance, including Cuba and North Korea. Nikki Haley has it right: ‘The truth is that Assad, Russia and Iran have no interest in peace.’

“Indeed, they are waging war, and the principal force driving that war is not Assad, but Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Khamenei’s killers have been alongside Assad’s from the very beginning, as the survival of the Syrian dictator is crucial to Iranian ambitions and quite likely also the survival of the Islamic Republic itself. Listen to Defense Secretary James Mattis a few days ago (from Reuters):

“Asked about comments Mattis made in 2012 that the three primary threats the United States faced were ‘Iran, Iran, Iran,’ Mattis told reporters that Iran’s behavior had not changed in the years since.

“At the time when I spoke about Iran I was a commander of US central command and that (Iran) was the primary exporter of terrorism, frankly, it was the primary state sponsor of terrorism and it continues that kind of behavior today,” Mattis said.

“True, and Mattis’ characteristically strong language points the way to the best American action in the region, namely bringing down the Tehran regime. . .”

Joel Pollak, Breitbart: “Trump Ordered Syria Attack, then Ate Dinner with Chinese President”

“President Donald Trump ordered Tomahawk missile strikes against a Syrian airfield on Thursday evening — then sat down to dinner with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago.

“CNN, citing a White House source, reports:

‘Trump met with his national security team before his dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Mar-a-Lago Thursday, where he made the decision to pull the trigger on the biggest military action of his presidency, an administration official says.

‘He sat through dinner with the President Xi as action was under way.

“Trump was briefed after dinner by Secretary of Defense James ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis, according to the report.

“The message would not have been lost on the Chinese president, whose visit was expected to include difficult discussions about the threat of North Korean ballistic missiles, as well as about China’s ambitious naval expansion on artificial islands in international waters.

“‘He does what he says … He’s sending a message to the Chinese,’ former General Jack Keane told Sean Hannity on Fox News. . .”

Courtney Kube et al., NBC: “U.S. Launches Missiles at Syrian Base over Chemical Weapons Attack”

“The United States fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at Syria overnight in response to what it believes was a chemical weapons attack that killed more than 100 people.

At least six people were killed, Syria claimed, but the Pentagon said civilians were not targeted and the strike was aimed at a military airfield in the western province of Homs.

The action completed a policy reversal for President Donald Trump — who once warned America to stay out of the conflict — and drew anger from Damascus and its main ally, Russia. . .”

Jonah Goldberg, NRO: “Meet the New Realism, Same as the Old Realism”

“As President Trump considers action in Syria, he will have to confront an environment without any good options.

“In the aftermath of the Assad regime’s barbaric gassing of men, women, and children, “President Trump declared from the Rose Garden, “When you kill innocent children, innocent babies — babies, little babies — with a chemical gas that is so lethal . . . that crosses many, many lines, beyond a red line.”
“This was a reference to Barack Obama’s infamous — and infamously unenforced — “red line” statement from 2012, in which he strongly suggested that if Syrian president Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons in his effort to destroy rebel forces, America would intervene. “Then Assad used chemical weapons, and Obama dithered. Syria has since become an abattoir, and Assad has slowly gained the upper hand, thanks largely to assistance from the Russians and Iranians.
“During his campaign, Trump rightly excoriated Obama for squandering American credibility. But Trump also repeatedly insisted that America would not get involved in conflicts that weren’t any of our business.
“It remains to be seen what Trump will actually do as a consequence of these multiple line drawings, but it seems clear that he intends to do something, or at least he wants to leave that impression.
“That seemed to be the point of Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley’s powerful presentation at the U.N. this week, in which she suggested that it may be necessary for the U.S. to act unilaterally in Syria. (Full disclosure: My wife works for Haley.)
“I am sympathetic to the Trump administration’s disgust with the Assad regime. And I am open to, if skeptical of, any measures that could improve the situation on the ground. If we could dispatch a drone that rendered Assad a fine pink mist without starting a war with Russia or handing Syria over to al-Qaeda, I’d be all for it. Some people just need killing.  .  .”

Peter King, Hannity: “’Unmasked’ Intel Reports Had Detailed Information about ‘Everyday Lives’ of Targets”

“The intel reports at the heart of the Susan Rice ‘unmasking’ scandal contain detailed information on their targets’ ‘everyday lives’ from ‘morning until night’, says one key lawmaker who was briefed on the documents, reports Fox News‘ Catherine Herridge.

“‘This is information about their everyday lives,’ said Rep. Peter King, who serves on the House Intelligence Committee. ‘Sort of like in a divorce case where lawyers are hired, investigators are hired just to find out what the other person is doing from morning until night and then you try to piece it together later on.’

“The only members of the House Intelligence Committee who have personally viewed the intelligence documents are Chairman Devin Nunes and ranking Democrat Adam Schiff.

“Other members of the committee have been briefed on their content.”

Javier Hernandez, NYT: “The ‘Goddess’ Yi Wan Ka: Ivanka Trump Is a Hit in China”

Meanwhile, Ivanka is also a Planned Parenthood booster . . .

BEIJING — When Wang Ge, a business school student, wakes up, she often asks herself, “What would Ivanka do?”

“That would be Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of President Trump, a woman Ms. Wang has never met but worships.

“In the United States, Ms. Trump has become a controversial figure, battling persistent questions about business conflicts and criticism for not doing more to moderate her father’s policies toward women.

“But in China, Ms. Trump is widely adored. Her lavish lifestyle and business acumen resonate with many young professionals who are hungry for fame and fortune in a society that often equates material wealth with success. . .”

Rushbo, “The Deep State Stonewalls Investigation of Obama Spying”

“. . . This is the now famous ‘deep state’ that everybody talks about. ‘Our requests are simply not being answered,’ said one House Intelligence committee source about the lack of responsiveness.’ CIA, FBI, NSA. ‘The agencies are not really helping at all and there is truly a massive web for us to try and wade through.’ A Senate Intelligence Committee source said the upper chamber had the same experience. ‘Any information that will help find the wide extent on the unmasking and surveillance is purposely not being provided,’ said the Senate source.

“So Obama Regime officials are stonewalling. They’re not participating. They’re continuing to leak, and they’re continuing to do the unmasking and reporting, but they’re not cooperating. New York Times. Maggie Haberman of the Democrat National Committee and Matthew Rosenberg: ‘Trump, Citing No Evidence, Suggests Susan Rice Committed Crime.’ That’s another way it’s done: ‘Trump, Citing No Evidence…’ CNN runs graphics like that all the time. ‘Trump, despite no evidence claims such-and-such had Cheerios for breakfast,’ or whatever it is.

They always throw in ‘despite having no evidence.’ Well, excuse me, but isn’t it the New York Times that has had no evidence for every allegation they’ve been making about Trump and Russia? Excuse me, but isn’t that the case, is that every single story that they have run on this featuring leaks from deep in the intelligence community? Has not every story said, ‘But so far there is no clear evidence suggesting a link’? All we have is the leaking and all we have is the supposition and the speculation. No evidence.

“So couldn’t you say — and be accurate in doing so — that every New York Times article cites no evidence when they report what they report? So Trump has thrown another grenade, and I just want to remind you: When Trump throws these grenades, as frustrated as people get — even Trump supporters. As time passes, Trump ends up being much more right than he is wrong, such as when he lobbed that mortar into the Democrats about Obama tapping his wires at Trump Tower.. .”

Victor Davis Hanson, RCP: “Ancient Laws, Modern Wars”

“The most dangerous moments in foreign affairs often come after a major power seeks to reassert its lost deterrence.

The United States may be entering just such a perilous transitional period.

“Rightly or wrongly, China, Iran, North Korea, Russia and Middle East-based terrorists concluded after 2009 that the U.S. saw itself in decline and preferred a recession from world affairs.

“In that void, rival states were emboldened, assuming that America thought it could not — or should not — any longer exercise the sort of political and military leadership it had demonstrated in the past.

“Enemies thought the U.S. was more focused on climate change, United Nations initiatives, resets, goodwill gestures to enemies such as Iran and Cuba, and soft-power race, class and gender agendas than on protecting and upholding longtime U.S. alliances and global rules.

“In reaction, North Korea increased its missile launches and loudly promised nuclear destruction of the West and its allies.

“Russia violated its obligations under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty and absorbed borderlands of former Soviet republics.

“Iran harassed American ships in the Persian Gulf and issued serial threats against the U.S.

“China built artificial island bases in the South China Sea to send a message about its imminent management of Asian commerce.

“In Syria and Iraq, the Islamic State killed thousands in medieval fashion and sponsored terrorist attacks inside Western countries.

“Amid such growing chaos, a return to former (and normal) U.S. deterrence would inflame such aggressors and be considered provocative by provocateurs.

“Accordingly, we should remember a few old rules for these scary new crises on the horizon. . .”

Charles Hurt, Breitbart: “Nuclear Option: Forget RussiaGate, Rice Scandal Constitution Crisis”

“Well, that explains the deafening silence from President Obama.

“All these months, it turns out, it was his right-hand hatchet gal and exposed serial prevaricator Susan Rice who was behind the scenes in his administration working all the levers of the most powerful espionage machine on planet Earth to spy on Mr. Obama’s political enemies.

“This is jaw-dropping, bombshell information.

“Not because it reveals Susan “Benghazi was about a video” Rice to be a liar. We already knew that.

“Not because it exposed the Obama administration as the most nakedly partisan presidency in modern history, willing to use even the most sacred powers of the federal government for political purposes. We already knew that too.

“What is so astonishing about the revelation that Ms. Rice was the one unmasking Donald Trump and his campaign before, during and after he won the presidency is that it doesn’t get any closer to Barack Obama himself.

“Ms. Rice was Mr. Obama’s national security adviser, one of his closest aides. They spoke all the time. She worked directly for him. Here she was spying on Mr. Obama’s political enemies while in daily contact with him at the very height of the most contentious presidential election in memory. You don’t think she and the president discussed this?

“The revelation that Ms. Rice was the operator behind the spying answers just one question. But it raises a thousand more.

“When, exactly, did Ms. Rice start using the U.S. government’s spy operation as a weapon against Mr. Obama’s political opponents?

“What conversations did she have with the president about the intel gleaned about Mr. Trump and other political enemies of Mr. Obama?

“As was asked of an earlier president amid far smaller crimes: What did the president know, and when did he know it?

“What other opponents running for the Republican nomination was the Obama administration spying on? Were any of those political enemies “unmasked” and disseminated across government agencies? Was any of that intelligence leaked to the press?

“Did the Obama administration spy on Sen. Bernie Sanders during the long, messy Democratic primary, when the Vermont socialist refused to get out of the way for Hillary Clinton? Remember, we now know the lengths the entire Democratic National Committee went to rig that primary for Mrs. Clinton.

“If there was nothing wrong with ‘unmasking’ the identities of Mr. Obama’s political opponents and disseminating the intel, Ms. Rice, why did you flat out lie about it on national television last month?

“‘I know nothing about this’ is not exactly a robust defense of one’s actions.

“Most of the media, of course, is so desperate to destroy Mr. Trump and cover up anything that might reflect poorly on Mr. Obama that they would rather talk about phantom “Russia” connections instead.

“Fine. Investigate Russia all you want. Even if that inquiry bears fruit, it will be about as scandalous as Richard Nixon going to China. But an administration actively spying on political opponents during a presidential election, unmasking U.S. citizens and then punishing them with selective leaks to the press? That is a real scandal.

“And a constitution crisis that raises dire questions about whether any American citizen is safe from the espionage thuggery of the politically powerful.”

Mark Levin, 4/6/17

“On Thursday’s Mark Levin show, President Trump is considering taking action against Bashar al-Assad in Syria for his crimes against humanity. We are taking a much more aggressive posture towards Syria, Iran and North Korea now. Trump is not doing this because he is a neoconservative, but because our enemies are on the move. How can it be said at this point that Trump is a patsy for Putin? Trump in his first 100 days of his presidency, is doing more to challenge Russia than Barack Obama.

“After that, some left wing groups filed a bogus claim against Devin Nunes and now he has recused himself from investigating alleged Trump and Russia collusion. However, Nunes is still in charge of investigating the Obama administration spying on the Trump world and misuses of intelligence. The liberals don’t want to get to the bottom of what the Obama administration did. That is why their cronies filed ethics complaints against Nunes. We would not know as much as we do about the Obama administration practices if not for Nunes. Later, Gary Cohn, Jared Kushner, and Dina Powell are senior advisors, part of the liberal cabal trying to drive a liberal agenda in the Trump administration. They are tightening their grip on the White House. There is not a constitutional conservative in the place in terms of policy and senior staff. This is extremely troubling as Trump is not a conservative so he ought to hear from one.

“Finally, Chuck Schumer and his ilk want to control the judiciary. They don’t care if they support the filibuster one day and then oppose it the next. Their goal is the complete and utter evisceration of this society. They won’t let the Constitution and the Declaration get in their way.”
