Washington Examiner: “Time to govern, Republicans”
“On Nov. 9, 2016, in the stunned afterglow of Republicans taking the White House and holding both chambers of Congress, former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor put it plainly:
“It is now time for Republicans to govern,” he said on CNBC. “There’ll be no excuses now. And I think the number one focus will be repeal and replacement of Obamacare. I think that’s where they’ll go first.”
“Cantor was right, and it’s a reminder Republicans need to hear today, as they return from recess with the first six months of the Trump presidency almost over.
“Members of the GOP majorities need to realize that they have a job to do right now. Contrary to what many politicians seem to believe, that job is not, first and foremost, to get re-elected. Under President Barack Obama, Republican leaders had an effective formula for that. They would hold message votes, pass bills such as the repeal of Obamacare that had no chance of becoming law, avoid forcing members to take difficult votes, and suppress dissent and display unity by curtailing the committee process and the tradition of floor amendments.
“That won’t work anymore. There is now no easy formula for Republicans to win elections. The job of Republicans, now that voters have handed them control of the federal government, is to govern.
“Specifically, they must repeal Obamacare and make sure that its replacement is reasonable, responsible and workable. Then voters will support it. Second, Republicans need to reform the complex, distorting federal tax code, for both individuals and corporations, rekindling economic growth and, again, winning voter support. . . ‘
Andrew McCarthy, NRO: “Will Paris Revive the Constitution’s ‘America First’ Approach to Treaties?”
“The climate agreement is a bad deal, but far more important, the Senate never approved it.
“. . . The fact that the sun rose again this morning was less predictable than the media-Democrat hysteria over President Trump’s entirely reasonable decision to pull the United States out of the Paris Convention on climate change. The decision was clearly right on the merits: The pact, which would do nothing meaningful to address global temperatures, is an exercise in progressive preening, touted by hypocrites who zip to and from climate confabs in their private jets — the kind of “Do as I say, not as I do” lovers of humanity (but loathers of people) who never take one plane when two are available.
“To anyone but a zealot in the Church of Climate, it is obvious that carbon emissions are best reduced not by central planning but by a private sector free to innovate and respond to the market demand for environmentally responsible products and practices. That is how the United States leads, how it is already driving down emissions, and how it can promote the generation of wealth and know-how that — far better than dubious statistical models and rose-tinted crystal balls — would enable 22nd-century Americans to address their environmental challenges.
“All that aside, however, President Trump’s decision should have been obvious and indisputable, not momentous. That it was not is a measure of detachment from our constitutional moorings.
“The Paris Convention is a treaty. Under the Constitution, a treaty does not become law binding on the United States unless the president submits it to the Senate, obtains two-thirds approval there, and then ratifies the treaty. (Contrary to popular belief, the Senate does not ratify treaties; the president does the ratifying, but only if the Senate has consented.) That never happened to the climate agreement. It never had a chance of happening.
“In this instance, as in others, President Obama conspired with his fellow transnational progressives to defeat the Constitution he had sworn to preserve, protect, and defend. He waited until late 2016, the eleventh hour of his presidency, to sign the agreement. As with the Iran deal, he had no intention of submitting it to the Senate, because there was no way it would be approved there. . .”
WND: “ANTI-SHARIAH RALLIES PLANNED FOR 28 U.S. CITIES ON JUNE 10”
“Organizers seek to shine light on Sharia creep in USA
“ACT! For America is planning a nationwide ‘March Against Sharia – March for Human Rights’ on June 10 that so far has 28 cities signed up to participate.
“Organizers say they will be taking a public stand against female genital mutilation, honor violence, the blasphemy and apostasy laws, among other elements of Shariah that are increasingly showing up in American society.
“Brigitte Gabriel, the founder of ACT For America, said America is now starting to experience some of the same atrocities of Shariah that her family escaped in Lebanon decades ago.
“‘We want to increase awareness about certain practices that are starting to happen in our country with the rise of Islamic immigration, because we are now hearing about female genital mutilation, like the cases in Detroit recently announced by the Department of Justice,’ she told WND. ‘Who would have thought in 21st century America, after what women did working so hard in defense of women’s rights that we’d be talking about little girls being horribly mutilated, and that 513,000 girls are at risk of this barbaric Third World procedure, according to the CDC [Centers for Disease Control].’
“ACT! will also shine a light on honor killings and honor violence.
“‘It’s already here in America,’ Gabriel said. ‘We’re seeing girls being killed simply for wanting to wear makeup. Under our Constitution they deserve the same rights and protections.’
“She said U.S. feminists are ‘completely silent on this issue’ . . .
Nicole Russell, Washington Examiner: “Planned Parenthood caught lying again”
Who took over Gosnell’s caseload?
“. . . The most glaring falsehood in Planned Parenthood’s report is the discrepancies in their services. The report claimed, “U.S. women will lose essential care if Planned Parenthood is defunded, not just abortion, which is only 3 percent of the group’s services.” While they saw about 100,000 fewer patients than last year, they performed about 5,000 more abortions this year than last. Though the organization often claims their main goal is to provide health services, that number declined significantly this year.
“It doesn’t take a statistician to see that Planned Parenthood is twisting their numbers, and that abortions make up well more than 3 percent of their services — not to mention Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the U.S.
“It’s not shocking that an organization which peddles baby parts for profit and brags about providing abortions lies in its annual report — but it is disconcerting for a federally-funded group to do so when the truth is glaringly obvious.”

The map below contains a listing of public addresses and website links to 607 DPC practice locations in 47 states + DC (we still have not located any DPC practices in North Dakota, South Dakota, or Iowa,). Website readers should note that these practices met our three part definition of DPC, although they may not always self-describe as DPC. Both “Pure” DPC practices and DPC hybrids are included in the mapper, and they are now color coded! I’m happy to report that over 70% of the practices in the mapper are known to be pure.
